I'm glad you did this over an LS. At least keeping it in the family.

Ls is good but not in a supra :)

As much as everyone (including myself) ragged on the 7M I quite enjoyed your content and persistence with keeping it 👌🏻 however it’s all upwards from here, welcome to the JZ club 🤙🏻

Thanks mate I hear it's a pretty good club hopefully I enjoy my time :)

@@GasketFuka I started out with a 7MGTE in my A70 too, but went JZ after the first headgasket 🤣 ps bring on the 3S/5SGTE content 👌🏻

I am definitely sad but it makes sense, I have never seen a 7M abused for so many years and last that well for sure. Excited to see how the new build comes along
@GasketFuka Жыл бұрын
Yea tbh I thought with the billet gear I'd finally cracked it but then the thing I can't buy new was the head
@AidenRobey Жыл бұрын
I am so sad to hear this because I am about to pull my 7m-gte to rebuild it. your car has been a mentor and a guide for my own. fair well 7m and good luck supra

Hey mate keep the dream alive for me

@@GasketFuka I will but since your getting done with the 7mgte would you mind me buying your front facing intake manifold?
@sunnyblumen3807 Жыл бұрын
I still love you man! You are still an incredibly huge inspiration and help in Mk3 Community not just 7M

Thank you along as it's still a mk3 right?? :)

couple of things ive learned with my jz stuff over the years, arp rod bolts are a must, iv run them as a straight swap but you should resize the rods to do it properly. 2jzgte oil pump flows way to much for the ge block and has in excess of 100psi when oil is cold. ive run 1jzgte oil pumps and they are stightly lower flow, worked well, ring gaps of .024 top and ,026 2nd ring were good in my build at 530kw for many years
@GasketFuka Жыл бұрын
That's alot of kw for reliable power! This will be my transition into the jz world I'm getting the head done cams, bolt ons but stock block I hope to get a bit of life out of it but I will look to build another block on the side probably forged or a stock gte short block from toyota. Your power level would probably be the upper limits of my turbo which would be cool but I'll probably keep it around 400-450kw for now
@GasketFuka Жыл бұрын
Interesting but not too surprising about the gte pump since no squirters ect
@howardhutchinson Жыл бұрын
I fear that we all with 7M's, even us in the USA, will inevitably face the same future of parts unavailability soon. Race on with the 2J man. Companies are now making billet aluminum blocks and cyl head, and even new cast iron 2J blocks, so you'll have no need to fret. 🙂👍🏽
@GasketFuka Жыл бұрын
Yes the jz definitely had far more future proofing as far as parts went it's a shame but who knows I'll probably enjoy it
@gunmetalyota8918 Жыл бұрын
Makes me sad to see another performance 7m be retired, but I definitely understand. My 7mgte cressida has been a pain lately and been contemplating going 5.3 LS after I’m finished with my Ls3 mk3 drag build. For now I wanna try to enjoy the 7m but definitely won’t be the end goal with the car
@GasketFuka Жыл бұрын
Yea wasn't an easy call but I do belive it was the right one. Will I have teething issues going to the 2j? Most likely but atleast the support is there if I make a mistake

I hope you are doing ok. This sounded hard to do and really hurt your soul I know. I feel like there will be a goods step up especially with the vvti head giving that mid level torque. It looks like you will be putting together a good little package, so hopefully it allows for more seat time and fun shenanigans!
@GasketFuka Жыл бұрын
Hi mate thanks yea it wasn't easy but coming to piece with it. I'm sure once it's done I'll have feelings I should have done it earlier atleast I hope so :)
@MrMark0487 Жыл бұрын
@GasketFuka haha I hope so too. Hopefully you will be able to rag on it a bit more without fear of it breaking too often! Haha

RIP the best sounding drift car around. Though for the same reasons even here in the states I'm putting together a "backup plan" motor should my 7M build shit the bed.
@GasketFuka Жыл бұрын
Hopefully can get this to sound nice I specifically chose a sinco manifold as they have a reputation for sounding really good
@RoadskiN Жыл бұрын
You're a lot more persistent than me, my MZ20s 7M died once and it was out straight away for a JZ lol. Please please please try and get 7M plastic covers retrofitted or 3D printed for your 2JZ 😂
@GasketFuka Жыл бұрын
I have a plan in place to pay homage to the 7m with this motor was a rather unnecessary aesthetic expense but I had to do it you will see soon
@rushnerd Жыл бұрын
JZ all the way, mate. Always thought if my 7M-GE blew I would just go there, but we both know how insane those costs are. I really REALLY hope you stick with her. You got one of the coolest cars on the planet and you owned it. Was frankly an inspiration to my stock 88'.
@GasketFuka Жыл бұрын
Thank you mate I appreciate the kind words I have no plans to move on from the a70 that was one of the deciding factors in leaving the 7m to future proof myself with a more supported engine

Thanks mate looking forward to see how a better flowing head, higher compression and vvti goes with response on the same turbo
@Tony240zt Жыл бұрын
Well, it wasn't a total loss. Your failure hopefully will prevent my own. I picked up the billet oil pump gear myself. Glad you're still doing car things, even if I'm personally a bit bummed about going JZ.
@GasketFuka Жыл бұрын
You still get to enjoy me being silly in a supra :) and yea I hope a few more people get onto the billet gears one to save motors and 2 keep the guys making them in buisness to maintain the little support the 7m has
@TheHighroller88 Жыл бұрын
its about time lol best thing i did to my mk3 was put a 2j in it. ps put a oem Koyo bearing on the billet timing idler others will fail

Sad day😢. Hope you find a nice home for your 7M to retire in, where it won't have to work to hard, but still continue to put a smile on your face. Maybe another Mk3 supra has your name on it😊 for the streets
@GasketFuka Жыл бұрын
Z20 soarer would be the dream. Either that or always wanted an older Cressida I did actually pass one up to get they dyna instead but that's getting no attention right now either as the supra needs all my funds and attention haha. Maybe if I get a season of trouble free racing I can afford a street car
@samchristian665 Жыл бұрын
No brainer considering a lot of the main goodies from your old setup are almost plug and play. However I think we enjoyed watching you suffer with the 7M and persisting for so long, your going to run out of content not having to fix the 7m once a year, I used to say "there is that one guy in NZ who made a 7M work" now I guess I'll be saying "there used to be a guy in NZ who drifted with a 7M, but even he went JZ finally" I think it's inevitable and logical.
@GasketFuka Жыл бұрын
As much as I would have like to carry on flying the flag it was just getting too hard . I'm sure I'll enjoy the current setup I'm mostly just looking forward to driving my car again
