Watching the whole playthrough on Moreteo is worth it. Teo made a lot of good choices and stopped to think about the best decision, he was doing really well. Then the last part of the game completely screwed him over and it was the funniest Teo ending.

At least that's my understanding of his thought process. Sometimes Teo's decision making makes me wonder how he himself is still alive. I mean the whole time his literal mom is helping you behind the scenes and guiding you along, if you find her card you see how desperate she is to save/find her son, and with her whispers being dialed up in the moment I honestly assumed maybe that was the "right" choice and maybe the witch would fully enter the story and give the kids another way out.

Also, every bit of how that scene was played out was how literally every movie sets up the "there's a bigger evil controlling this" twist. They basically used a series of tropes, camerawork, character reactions, and nondiegetic audio to manipulate you into thinking there was more to what was going on than just "press A, win game good" so they could go "Hah, get fucked, we subverted your expectations", which makes the choices seem less logic and past-knowledge based and more just trial-and-error.

Teo saving Max's life by being confused over context is the funniest thing. Sadly, even though Max is arguably the funniest character he doesn't get much screen time, and not a lot of different options affect his time on screen. There's one that majorly changes it involving Laura, but that's it. What you missed by the way, in the text for Max, was "Max was cured of the werewolf curse when Ryan shot Chris Hackett with a silver shell. He waits for Laura, unaware of her fate.", which is genuinly the sadest ending/sadest ending text IMO.
