One armer is back 😊 Just about weight Martin Keller and Emil both gain a lot of weight and realized that it was more sustainable and made both hardest boulder ever Adam ondra said also that gaining muscles made him improved over the years so There is a balance to be healthy and not skinny but muscular and lean eating enough calories lead to more power and sustainable performance 😊 For bodybuilding muscles volumes are not helping in term of extra weight and make your grip strengh weaker but natural muscles are maybe your natural power genetics no need to fight it 😊

Yeah! About weight: Lighter is always better. But even genetic freaks like Adam Ondra or Alex Megos cannot keep their pre-puberty stick figure like bodies forever, at some point endogenous testosterone will kick in and change their bodies, making them heavier (although that can be postponed with diet to some extent for example), they cannot prevent that as they age, that doesn't mean it's helping them, although they might climb even harder grades as they get older. I believe if Ondra had the same skills as he has today (strategy, speed, precision, pacing, mental abilities etc.) when he was young and light, at the peak of his finger strength per body weight, he would have climbed even harder back then.

@@ManitheMonkey as long as you are not deprived from caloric restrictions lighter is better 100% agreed but I think a lot of climbers are calories restricted and suffer from it with bad recovery bad sleep shut down hormonal balanced and so on … There is a big troubles eating disorder in our community…

"It's always better to be light weight and have less muscle than have more muscle and be hevier." I think that by this you mean to be in the leaner side of the normal BMI for you and your body than to be at the hevier side of the normal BMI. But these days (fortunately so), the weight has become quite sensitive topic in climbing as I'm sure you're aware off, and hence I would be a little hesitant to leave that kind of statement hanging without discussing it in a bit more detail. REDs is no joke and everyone in a sport where strength to weight ratio is as critical as in climbing should be aware of the potential health consequences of constantly getting too few calories. P.s. I know BMI is also controversial as the optimal numbers aren't the same for everybody, but I used it for the lack of better term.

On a related note: since you have done a few successful fasting experiments in the past, do you have any plans going that road this time or are you going to stick to the video tittle and convert the extra mass to muscle? If you don't mind me asking 🙂

Lighter is almost always better in climbing, that's unfortunately just how it is. I didn't say that being light is healthy, in fact I quite often discuss that the opposite is the case (especially on the Patreon where I reviewed some climbing vids). Yes I think fasting short term is a relatively non-problematic way to cut a few kgs for a project (long term, a very low carb diet a la McLeod can be helpful for some, for example), and I think I would be willing to fast again, should it become necessary for a super hard project (not at the moment).
