My first Camaro was a 2010 RS. I now have a 2014 SS. If someone's going to talk smack about you having a V6, perhaps they should stop running their mouth and buy you a V8 if they care so much. Moai you can modify your existing energy absorber, but a lot of test fitting and trimming... a new one would be sasier

Hello, I watched your video , its great. but i do not quite understand what u did there as i am no mechanic. Is it possible to change on 2013 ss camaro, bumper for zl1 ? is it enought just to put one down and zl1 up? or are there some other upgrades that are needed to be done? Thank you very much

As far as I know this bumper fits all Camaros from 2010-2013 but you will be need do two things 1: you'll need to do some wiring work to give energy to the new lights on the zl1 bunper 2: this bumper requires you to modify or change the shock absorber you can find those for about 85 on eBay

Why did you take the wheels off and the fender off? I didn't even use a Jack and didn't take any of that stuff off when I took my bumper off on SS. Also, why did you spray paint that bar black?

Man, not sure what kind of skinny snake arms you got, but trying to get to some of those bolts leaving the wheels and liner in tact would have been a PITA that's not worth the 5 min it takes to pop the wheels off to make it easy. Even at full turn, the gap between the inner wheels and the well is pretty tight, so why not? Also made it really easy to run the light harness across the front. We painted the top of the bar black because we didn't happen to have matching white on hand, the grill is black,and when we removed the old grill, there were friction/vibration scratches where the mounting fascia had rubbed through the paint and were starting to rust. So I sanded down the rust and hit the top edge with black bed-liner which should be a bit more abrasion resistant and blend into the otherwise black grill area.

Hi man, great video, I'm trying to do this on my SS but I'm buying an aftermarket ZL1-lookalike bumper, it says "energy absorber for zl1 required" Did you need to have a different energy absorber installed? I'm guessing it's the thing infront of the metal bar.

+Abdullah Moai Yes that would be the absorber that was in front of the metal bar. The original SS model did not fit. I however had mine come with the package I ordered through Gary's Customs (found on camaro5.com). While I don't discourage after market parts, I would be cautious on the front end, as the fitment has to be spot on or will stick out.

Nice makes it look way more aggressive now that ive seen a time lapse of it. I just bought me a 2010 SS last night with the ZL1 bumper on it and was curious about it and now I know why it was done lol. Just have to have the dealer fix the fog lights on it.

+DSMeclipsegst Awesome! The Zl1 front end is absolutely amazing. If the dealer charges you, gen5diy has the harness required for the fog lights and it is a simple fix. Pop off the front end, run the wires/cables, and you are set.

It did, customer just preferred the SS grille so swapping it over from the original was viable.

I do not believe the 2014 "refresh" versions would be compatible with this swap, as the headlights/turn signals are different. Though, do not quote me on this as I could be mistaken. Depending on where you buy the front end kit, you can opt for a zl1 upper grill (most come with lower). I decided to stick with the SS upper grill, as I didn't want to deal with the incorrect ZL1 badging that comes from the upper grill itself. You can. I've seen it done. But you need a lot more than just the bumpers. I think you need the fenders and headlight as well as some brackets.

Private re-sale is in the eye of the beholder, but for dealership trade in I don't think the bank cares about mods...i.e. doing this won't get you any more or less for the car.

Plasti-dip, black - as this was the first one we'd ever messed with I wasn't sure if it was necessary as he wanted to have the interior trim around the lights "blacked out" and not have white show through. Plasti-dip is nice because it's not a permanent modification.. if you don't like it or want to return the area to OEM you just peel it off.

If you don't want to do it yourself, I'd look around town for custom auto shops in your area that could give you a quote... or... what I'd do is join a decent local Camaro club and just start asking around. You'll very likely get to meet other folks that could do the job or at least recommend a trustworthy shop to do the work.

+amari odom Either 2014's or 2015's V6 or V8! 2016's I just don't like them. I had a 2014 LS and traded it for a 2015 RS 2LT because they are fuel efficient and I wanted the fully upgraded V6. Later changed my mind and wanted a 2014 or 2015 V8 but they were going to add negative equity of $10000 over the car price and financing total close to $50000 for a 2015 V8. So I am stuck with the 2015 RS 2LT in which its an awesome car. I have a video on KZbin!
