It took L.A. graffiti artist RISK (a.k.a Kelly Graval) and an army of community supporters 12 days to transform the old St. Joseph's hospital in Sudbury, Ontario into Canada’s largest mural and Sudbury.com was there every step of the way.
Watch the transformation for yourself in our timelapse video, along with stunning drone footage provided by Bertrand Productions, and find out what went into the making of the monstrous masterpiece located on the shore of Ramsey Lake.

I was born there. My daughter was born there and sadly my grandmother passed away there. It means alot to people like me to see it come alive and SHAME on the people that stole from the work site. Love & Light

This looks great, but sadly it's just a colourful reminder to me that this building should never have stopped being a hospital to begin with.

They should have used local artists rather then an outside hire. This looks like something you would see in LA not Northern Ontario. How cool would it have been if the mural incorporated mining imagery, indigenous art, the surrounding lakes, etc... Not to be entirely negative this is better then nothing for sure but it could have been done better in my opinion.

Still an eyesore. Now with broken widows. What a joke. If your okay with this you are the problem. That should have only been sold to a company that had a plan to tear it down or at least convert it into something functional at the waterfront. We laugh every time we see it and wonder how much that cost, and what that money could have been spent on. What a prime piece of real estate to let it be destroyed like that and overrun with homeless and drug addicts.

Exactly! I was in Sudbury for work and had to drive by this building several times. My first thought was "what an eyesore" There's nothing appealing about it. It should have been demolished.
