I guess if you want to focus on the entertainment aspects of the year…I tend to see the housing crash causing lost jobs, lost savings, the government bailing out rich people, and the common person getting nothing and no one going to jail for creating that housing bubble. It was the first time in its 100 year history my school had to lay off teachers.

It involved a lot of Playstation 3, late night anime binges, and avoiding the excessive drinking I did in college. But did meet the love of my life near the end of the year so wasn't a total loss.

That’s why everybody is on camera now and every place has strict rules. But they don’t give af anymore and they wanna do what the young ppl are doing so there is no progress in society cause everybody wants to play games instead of work. See the real world used to be better than some fake world u wanna escape to online but now that’s all anybody is obsessed with. When I was 12 ps2 was the biggest thing ever, most units sold outta any gaming system! But u can’t go back and say oh yeah Fortnite was the best game, it was hundreds of games better than that and we all went to each other’s house to play. It wasn’t some fake glitching cheating bs online where if u got cheat codes u win🤡🤡🤡 that’s when the world got fake! I might hold these things closer to my heart because I remember life before all this technology and I see how badly it’s abused I just can’t help but think about how my dad passed away when I was 12 and I never got to take a video of him on my phone cause we didn’t even have iphones with video capabilities till 2012! I’d give anything to see him or hear his voice! He used to take me to the first and only PlayStation store in SF like every weekend! That was the best time to be a kid! 5 stories of real life fun! It had a virtual reality halo game years before hall came out with an indoor rollercoaster! Go type in the metreon SF in KZbin if u wanna see how we were once innovating and u can see how we have actually gone backwards since then!

Three things I remember about 2008. One: my classmate’s dad coached the U.S. Olympic ping pong team and actually brought back mini mascot stuffies for our entire class. Two: the recession eventually caused my dad to lose his job the next year in ‘09. Three: my dad took my sister and I to a Sarah Palin rally that was held in a local baseball stadium on a school day. Maybe he was trying to get high and accidentally offed himself or maybe he was tired of life. But since he was rich and famous, the official story will always be it was accidentally since there's no conclusive proof it was intentional which means if you say it's intentional his estate lawyers will just sue you. But that doesn't mean it wasn't intentional. We'll never actually know for sure.

2008 was the best year ever, I met my husband in November. I remember the recession well, I quit my good paying job. I saw the writing on the wall and two weeks later it shut down. Gas was $4.69 and it took $40 to fill up my Hyundai Accent after a road trip. My now husband and I watched the election and I will never forget that.
