+jd838 When I first played the game I apparently blacked out the one moment where Sora is at home in bed and his mom says something to him through the door, spent a couple YEARS thinking that all these children were orphans who just washed up here from other islands, shipwrecks, etc., and it was just something nobody talked about because it didn't really matter. I prefer that to the canon fact that the 3 main trio don't care about their parents enough to think about them ONCE while simultaneously spouting all this talk about bonds and friendship and caring about people they can't always be with.

Fancy seeing you here, Antoine! :o But yeah, KH is a very complex and confusing franchise and that is mainly because there are so many small things that takes time to explain on their own before you can go into the actual big picture. Sora's Keyblade for example, would warrant like 20-30 minutes of video on its own you want to go through all the loops that surrounds it.

I played the first Kingdom Hearts in 2002 when I was in the second grade. I'm now about to graduate with my masters degree, likely in the same year that KH3 will come out. I've grown up with these characters, and now as the final chapter of their story is coming to an end, in a way, so is mine. After this, I'll be out in the real world with a real job, and a new chapter will begin. Some of my best memories revolve around this story and these characters, and seeing it come to a close is bittersweet. Even though it's just a game, it's helped shape who I am as a person, and I'll carry these moments with me till I die. Thanks for the memories, guys. Let's do this. Edit: I realize this won't be the end of the series. Nomura made that clear years ago. What I meant was, this will be the end of the story for me. If the conclusion is satisfying, this will probably be the last one I play. I always hate it when a TV show goes on two seasons too long. Sometimes it's just better to end on a high note, you know? Here's hoping they end can give this saga the ending it deserves.

As someone who has never played Kingdom Hearts (still meaning to play it), I can say that this timeline is both brilliant AND confusing at the same time
@jonatassilva260510 жыл бұрын
To be fair,the way to go is PLAY the games. Then see everything that happens. And then watch it,to clear things you didn't understand and stuff. While the character development and exploration is in the Disney Worlds,the TRUE plot happens in the original KH worlds,and that stuff can't be missed,or you get lost as hell.
@ayandanxumalo96999 жыл бұрын
Jonatas Silva You got a point. I started with KH2 but I mean I knew what happened in each game but it's only when I went and played 1.5 and 2.5 remix that I suddenly could point out things, understand what was gong on and piece together the story. The Kingdom Hearts story isn't hard to follow when you play then in order. The way they're set up on the discs is perfect. For 1.5 you get KH 1 and COM to get you started with 358/2 days showing us a bit more and all three just set up KH2. With 2.5 You can either start with BBS to get knowledge of the past or start with KH2 which puts everything into place. Then you watch coded and you're all set.
@somethingisverywrong9 жыл бұрын
As someone who is currently playing it, it is just as confusing. I always thought it would be great, with complicated games, for there to be an option for a character to just explain everything to you, what's going on, where you've been, what your goal is, etc. Now we actually have that guy, and I'm no less befuddled.

One important thing that you probably should have explained to make this a lot easier to newcomers: In KH's cosmology a person (often called a Somebody by fans) is made out of two parts: the Heart (essentially the soul) and the Body. If these two are separated the Heart becomes a Heartless and the Body is usually destroyed. Occasionally the Body has a strong enough will to keep living and retains it's existence becoming a Nobody (yes, these names are completely contradictory). Nobodies are unable to properly feel emotions or develop as people and are hunted by a feeling of existential incompleteness. (Roxas and Namine might have been exceptions since Sora and Kairi still was operational). This is what Xehanort used to manipulate organization XIII to help him access Kingdom Hearts, which they believed could grant them new Hearts. If both a person's Heartless and Nobody "dies" both rejoin in some (recently introduced and still mostly unexplained) afterlife-existence allowing them to return to their original form.
@thedothackerkeyblademaster10 жыл бұрын
Actually, the Heart and Soul are different aspects in Kingdom Hearts. The Soul is the life-force of the body; when the soul leaves, the body dies.
@Painocus10 жыл бұрын
Quinton Williams Yeah, I was trying to explain what the heart does with a parallel to a common concept. I had honestly forgot about Souls being a thing in KH since they are so unimportant on their own and I didn't have the foresight to check.

But organization 13 actually had hearts...

So the keyblade wielders involved in the final fight of 7 Light vs 13 Dark would then be Sora, Riku, Kairi, Mickey, Lea, Aqua (if they can get her out of the realm of darkness) and Ventus (if they can give him his heart)? Alternatives for Aqua and Ventus would be entirely new characters or Roxas (which is unlikely since he's like..gone now, right?) and Terra (also unlikely as he's probably dead?). Donald and Goofy could probably be chosen to receive the power to wield them as well I suppose and that would round the numbers up nicely. In any case, a final battle between a shit ton of keyblade wielders sounds like the best thing in the world.
@thenooboakster207410 жыл бұрын
Actually, it has been theorized that Terra isn't gone. In Dream Drop Distance, Xehanort mentions when he captures Sora and is confronted by Riku that "Now, two of the possible lights are on my side", referring to Sora and a yet unknown person. Considering that Terra can be considered a light and was actually a part of Xehanort before splitting into Xemnas and Ansem, it isn't too farfetched to think that Xehanort was referring to Terra-Xehanort as the second light on his side, meaning that Terra is still alive and could be redeemed.
@soraenja95210 жыл бұрын
TheNoobOakster Oh yeah, I haven't considered that. Well, that messes up my numbers a bit :/
@thenooboakster207410 жыл бұрын
My guess for the 7 lights would be Terra, Aqua, Ventus, Sora, Riku, Mickey/Kairi/Lea. As much as I want Roxas to return, one has to remember that he is a nobody, and nobodies in and of themselves are connected to darkness, as DiZ explained to Roxas when they spoke about why he wanted Sora.
@soraenja95210 жыл бұрын
TheNoobOakster oh in that case, I'll be betting on Mickey and Lea then because Kairi is a princess of heart and I feel it would be pretty crap to make her both.

What some of you seem to not understand, or appreciate, is that the complexity is put in place for a very good reason. As mentioned in the video, these complexities are usually only implemented in book and movies, rarely in video games ( as that you have to grind through the gameplay in order to get the story ). Those of you that want to dumb this down and look at it all in a black-and-white fashion are too simple minded to appreciate the immense amount of beauty within the narrative. The man that made this video hit the nail on the head when he explained that the +decade long+ Kingdom Hearts franchise is so popular even to this day is directly due to the way it was produced and released, confusion-suspense-resolution, at its very best. Now that you readers are two cents richer, Ill go back inside my shell and continue waiting for the next game release.

Kingdom Hearts is my all-time favorite franchise for so many reasons. The story is amazing, it has Disney (which I love), the battle system is great, and it's home to some of the best (and worst) boss battles in history. The only issue I have with the franchise is that it has too much fanservice on the Final Fantasy side of things.

But I'm pretty sure you forgot to mention how Aqua, Terra and Ventus were connected to Sora, Riku and Kairi. You see, the names mean three things, water, earth and sky/wind. The original cast's names are in Japanese, the Birth by sleep's cast in Latin. Like Terra's connection to Riku, because their names essentially mean the same thing. Just saying.
@KHmixerX10 жыл бұрын
I always thought it was a bit retarded that Yen Sid didn't pass Sora in his Mark of Mastery exam. I guess saving the world from darkness twice and slaying both of Xehanort's pieces in KH 1&2 wasn't enough to consider him a Keyblade Master....
@yakeesantiago130710 жыл бұрын
hell yea, another fact is that Sora has possession of what was supposed to be Riku's keyblade. But it chose Sora over Riku. Sora's awsome!!!
@KHmixerX10 жыл бұрын
Yakee Santiago Well that's more so due to the fact that it was a Keyblade of the world of light. And since Riku chose the darkness originally, it changed wielders. I get what you're saying though. Sora is awesome. Riku is awesome too, but he spent a large chunk of the series screwing things up. Why that earns him the Mark of Mastery is a mystery to me.

You mean keyblade armour? I don't think sora will have the ability to summon keyblade armour since he was never really suppose to have a keyblade.
@JamesAxis139 жыл бұрын
***** but the keyblade chose him in the end right?
@henshaw339 жыл бұрын
INCOOM13 So the real question, is Sora wielding a keyblade because Riku failed and the keyblade passed on to the next best person, or was it because of the connection Sora had with Ventus' heart that called the keyblade to him?
@MrTucan139 жыл бұрын
***** not to argue with you. But they'll be dumb as hell if he can't get armor because it wasn't meant for him. It should be based on how strong the connection is between the keyblade and the keyblade wielder. Because we ALL know sora should get some badass armor like his "big brother" ventus
@thanesladek99019 жыл бұрын
***** Nomura had already said that Ventus heart has nothing to do with Sora's ability to wield a keyblade not to dual wield. He can wield because he took it from Riku, and dual wield because he reabsorbed Roxas. Words from the guy in charge himself.

Buy the 'Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD remix' for PS3. As well as Kingdom Hearts 1, it also has Chain of Memories included. 'Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD' will be coming out in the near future for PS3 as well. It will include Kingdom Hearts 2 and if I'm not mistaken, it will also include 'Birth By Sleep'. That's 2 of the spinoffs that you can get for the PS3. All the games in the 'remixes' are exactly as they were on the original release, just in HD and not on a fiddly little handheld. As for 'Dream Drop Distance' and '358/2 days', you'll probably just have to suck it up and buy a 3DS since you can play both on it. Being on Nintendo platforms, I can't imagine them being released on another console, at least not any time soon. The cutscenes for '358/2 days' have been remastered and pasted together as a 'film' in the '1.5 remix' but honestly, I would recommend buying the original DS version so you can actually play the game, rather than watch a glorified youtube video. Altogether you shouldn't be paying that much for it all. The games themselves are relatively cheap and easy to get hold of (except 2.5 which isn't out yet), especially if you don't mind buying preowned games. 3DS's are a lot cheaper than they used to be as well.
@jammerock110 жыл бұрын

linkno1 KH 1.5 has Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Chain of Memories, and the Cinematics of 358/2 Days. KH 2.5 has Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, Birth by Sleep Final Mix and the Re:Coded Cinematics. All that is left is Dream Drop Distance. Which is for the 3ds and is relatively cheap now if you already own a 3ds. I am waiting on KH 2.5 to watch the Re:Coded Cinematics and to finally have "played" through all the games. And the Final Mix versions have a lot of stuff in them that the original ps2 games didnt. Like how in KH1 You can fight Xemnas at Hollow Bastion.
