Dantoni was a horrible choice for the Lakers. His all-offense, no-defense approach never worked in the long run and it completely backfired on the Lakers.

This team was currently dominating , had Pau Gasol , Even Role Players. They had a great run won back to back , but 12-13 was a bad year due to chemistry , injuries , and coaching style. But , 2K Needs to add this 09-10 Lakers.

I so wish we (LAL) won in 08 vs Boston. That was such a crazy offseason. I remember having Kobe’s back in 07 after the Stephen A interview. & then boom we get Gasol. It was incredible. To win that year would’ve been an amazing story. But 09 actually felt the best. I really don’t care if it wasn’t vs Boston or LBJ. We won the Finals in five games 🏆 felt so great to feel like the only person I knew holding onto hope from 04 on. & ‘10 was the most epic for sure in 7 games vs Boston

Exactly. Because they were not that “superteam” type, they had 2 main all stars in Kobe and Pau and a bunch of role players who excelled in their roles like Fish, Odom, Ariza, Bynum, Brown, Farmar, Artest, Mbenga, etc.

@@jamesbartee6184 Kobe was 33/34 around that time. He would probably play until 2017/2018 if he didn't tear it, but I don't think Lakers would be able to build a team around him. Worse, they would not be able to get LeBron to get that 2020 chip if he stayed healthy, so silver lining I guess? Also RIP since he died that year.

2007-08 had 2 critical transactions prior to the Pau Gasol trade: In the 2007 off-season, the Lakers did not resign Smush Parker and instead signed Derek Fisher. Smush and Fisher had similar states, but fisher was a better team player with a championship pedigree In November/December the Lakers traded Brian Cook and Maurice Evans for Trevor Ariza. Ariza was an upgrade from Evans, and Cook was worth trading because his game was too similar to Radmanovic (stretch power forward). People say Mitch was a bad GM and just got lucky when they traded for gasol, but there were several moves leading up to the gasol trade that contributed to their 3 trips to the finals and 2 championships

Imo the window closed for 4 major reasons 1. Trash Shaq trade shouldn’t gotten the atleast a draft pick or 2. It’s rumored they were supposed to get pick that became Mike Beasley ( there other rumors they were supposed to get him atleast 2 other times b4 he became a laker at the end of his career) 2.David Stern closed it by veto the Pau & Lamar For Cp3 deal & other versions that trade aswell that’s not mention. I bring that up to say it didn’t matter who the Lakers were trading Stern wasn’t going to let the trade that was done deal go thru because he didn’t want Kobe to pass MJ. 3. Not treating Jerry West correctly & letting him run the franchise. Which led to bad trade happen/not push thru on some good trade which close the window faster then it should’ve 4. Picking Mike D & Mike B as HC over Byron Scott at the time. Scott wouldn’t been best fit for that team at time. MD - couldn’t & still can’t HC defense but only Offense & Mike B couldn’t HC offense ( at the time he’s better now )but only Defense at the time. Scott could be both & was better coach at time imo

I really as a Laker fan. Have a hard time blaming the players for not winning another championship while Kobe was there. After watching the Lakers documentary on Hulu and watching what Mitch and the son of Dr. Bus, Jimmy boss, who isn’t even 10% of who his father was, but what they did reminded me of what the Chicago Bulls front office did basically in 1998. Mitch was in charge of the basketball side of things with Jimmy Boss the idiot sign. And for whatever reason they thought it would be a good idea to have Mitch go on the road with the team to Dallas so he could approach the coaching staff in front of every player in the locker room and tell them no matter what happens if you guys win a championship or not the entire coaching staff is fired after your playoff run. OK first off that’s a really stupid idea secondly, why when your team is trying to go against Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks instead of having a peptalk would you walk in the locker room and see something like that to the defending champions? It bothered me for years on how the Lakers body language was during that series, and I never knew why until that documentary. Jimmy was trying to prove that he knew what he was doing, but this is the guy that wanted to trade everyone except for Andrew Bynum. His master plan was that Andrew Bynum was going to be the next Shaquille O’Neal. Don’t get me wrong. I love Andrew Bynum I was so thankful he was on those Lakers teams that won those championships at the end of the 2000s but even a casual basketball fan could’ve told you that Andrew wasn’t going to have a long career. He had already had two or three knee surgeries before he made it to the NBA. In the 2008 finals, he couldn’t even play because of injury 2009 through most of the playoffs there were a lot of times where did Lamar Odom was the starter because Andrew is recovering from another injury. If you have an athlete that is 7 feet tall and 300 pounds and has had half a dozen knee surgeries and you know there’s a good chance he’s going to spend a quarter of the next season out with injury again why would you think that would be the right person to build the team around? I get what they tried to do with Dwight Howard, and Steve Nash after David Stern did something really stupid by stopping the Chris Paul trade which I think to this day is still complete bullshit, but the minute Dwight Howard was injured. It was over. It reminded me of what the Lakers tried to do in 2004. Yes you have a team of legends but all of those guys except for Kobe in 2004 or pass their prime. I felt like that’s how the 2012 team was. Dwight Howard was the youngest one on the team and he was hurt. And then you really picked Mike Dantoni overfill Jackson? Phil Jackson knows how to get the best out of everyone on the roster despite the rage. Mike had a roster with a bunch of guys in their mid 30s trying to play a college style ball which never worked. It was at that point that I really got depressed as far as just being a Laker fan because I knew after Jimmy had took over as the one heading up the basketball side of things and watching all of these stupid moves, like I said, it wasn’t stupid to get Dwight Howard and Steve Nash, but that team was built to win that year so that’s one good move out of like five or six really stupid moves. But after that, I finally just had just excepted that Kobe’s prime was over and that he probably was never going to get that six championship. Looking back, I don’t think it’s too crazy of a thing to say that if Phil Jackson had never left, and Derek Fisher had never left and they were able to get everyone else together like if they could got Gasol, the same year that they drafted, Andrew Bynum, I think this team could’ve easily one 4 championships. They weren’t old guys when they finally all got together but Kobe Bryant, Derek Fisher, Pau Gasol and Ron Artest were still in their prime, but they were at the end of their prime by the time they finally got that group together. This lineup didn’t three peat like the Kobe and Shaquille O’Neal dynasty did, but I can honestly say there was a three-year period there where I really loved watching this team play. I just wish that lineup that came together in 2008 could’ve got together a couple years earlier.

Chris Paul three team trade vetoed because it was during the lockdown only if Jim buss could’ve kept a secret and the general manager of New Orleans Del Demps could have waited then the trade could’ve become successful. But they made another trade, which was foolish by sending Lamar Odom to Dallas for two second round picks..

Yes I seen a bad team from 2014, 2015 and so on even the NBA games NBA 2k14 and 15 that I had those 2 video games those Lakers team had some very bad guys there playing I was like what happened? When I watch on TV some of the games you could tell kobey Bryant wasn't that happy with the team I felt he was just playing those days for the money he didn't had good teammates but I guess I still haven't seen the Lakers win more championships the last one was I believe 2020 Celtic's and Lakers were the ones winning all the time the 90s the bulls took that from them but ended by the end of 1998 if that team would stay together untill 2001 they would win and 2 championships or 3 but everything comes to an end. 🤷‍♂️

It's called not jumpshipping when ship is sinking. That simple. Their downfall is when PJAx retired and in 2010-11 season in April of 2011 the son of Dr. BUSS informed the team Phil will be out no matter what the outcome. An injured Kob was just an wasy prey for the Mavs so as the CHAIR D was applied to Pau got them swept in the 2nd round. The following year when the team removed Mike Brown it's a choice between PJax and D antonni l, again the son of Dr. BUSS CHOSE D antoni. This Jack @## son of Buzz really ruined the Lakers. And now you got a 34 almost 35 yr old Kob forced to play street ball all season long and Pau Gasol forced to shoot 3's and the D of that team was just horrible. There was even a game that year where Pjax was present in a game and the crowd chanted we want Phil! Kob willed the Lakers to the playoffs 45-37 record. But since he got injured they got easily swept by the Spurs because Steve Blake was their leading scorer. Hahahaha! That's how dumb D antonni is. It took 4 years after the 2010 title before Kob and the Lakeshow became a nonplayoff team, unlike le fraud and AD and Dwight took them 2 years to be completely out of top 10 in the WEST with a super team and only winning 33 games with same coach that gave the handed title in 2020. That says all, that Kob really gave his BEST to the Lakeshow and didn't give up until his body couldn't do it anymore.
