A relatively minor but funny example of off-rolling is during the 2021 season when Toronto randomly threw Aztac in on Zarya for two maps against Gladiators. They lost both maps, he proceeded to never get playtime again, and there was never any explanation on what the plan was. So random.

I remember Checkmate MTDed Fearless on lijang first point by being so aggro and suicidal that Fearless was totally lost. Too bad later in the series he started reading him like a book and got shat on.

On Jake on support and Mercy in general, it may not be remembered but, when he was in the game, on Support, or any hero for that matter, the team's win rate was SKY HIGH, I'm talking like near 80%. So regardless what you may think about him on support, his presence alone was a boon to the team, if it was just his shot calling or mind, or his actual play, his team rarely lost with him on support that year

I think the best example off roling we have is Rascal, the flex god himself. He switches to Brig and is one of the best in the league, and then he switches to Baptiste and is again one of the best on the league. One of the worst examples imo is Ryujehong on Winston, Kuki on main support, and Checkmate on main tank. Im glad Checkmate was able to find redemption and proved to everyone his prowess as a DPS player

Surprised you didn't give Rawkus a shout for everything he played in 2018. He had a great Zen and Ana, but I remember he would flex to things like Hog and Bastion on Junkertown and even played some Soldier on Numbani. Not sure why I remember the Rawkus Soldier so well, but I do.

You missed Shaz swapping to tracer and Hydration swapping to lucio for a map+Hydration on Outlaws in 2020, also does teru count? Since he was signed as a dps in 2021 and then role swapped. Also envy would play ana during goats for some reason

What about Hydration being better than Muma for the Outlaws? Also I think Mano was a main support player in the beginning of his career (2016-ish) and switched to main tank within a few months. So him being decent on MS for the NYXL isn’t too crazy to believe

10:45 sounds like mirror just enjoys mystery heroes, I could do that to just to flex on hero mastery, however flexing on support is not as fun, that zen right click from backbone is one of the only support plays to impress me over the years, he must have practiced that timing unless it was by instinct, if so, I have had some similar plays, but not with zen right click, more firestrikes or hanzo arrows etc :p (just from timing and without sound I mean)

Xepher Bastion, can't have an off role video and not talk about the Scrim God playing Bastion. Couple others the obvious Danteh on tank, Hotba's Tracer, and the one of map where Shax ended up on Dva and was able to catch a Grav. Wasn't during OWL but hm Tobi being Lunatic Hai's go to for Torbjorn.

Tbh i dont think any body off roling in owl should come as a big surprise. Most of these players have enough fundamentals to play any role at a contenders level without coaching so i dont see why its that much of a surprise when they get enough coaching to be a decent option on that role.
