I first heard this song about 13 years ago. Besides the divine melody, a line in the song that really struck me was "Waadi ke mausam bhi / Ek din to badlenge." I immediately realized that the line meant a yearning for return of normalcy in troubled Kashmir. And I also realized, almost instinctively, that such subtle and touching lines could have been written by either Gulzar or, if not him, then Javed Akhtar. No third name came to my mind.
