Honestly, I don’t think he would have hit 100 million if it wasn’t for the “subscribe to Pewdiepie” and the T-series race to 100 million. People had more of a motivation just to ensure that a company didn’t beat out an actual KZbinr. Nothing against Pewdiepie, I like him a lot. But he doesn’t have a mass appeal beyond the 50-60 million that he accrued on his own before MrBeast’s “sub to Pewdiepie.” Also, the whole, “he retired” thing is not accurate. He still posts semi-regularly. He just stopped caring about staying on top.
