I had this happen, and then it died a few days later. It then proceeded to be dead for about 6 months and then randomly come back to life but now it has no backlight or sound.

I just had this problem. I discovered that when you detach the back of the watch as if you were changing the battery but take it out entirely. Find where the Indiglo button sat inside . On the circuit board, you will find a small gold ball.I believe it had lost some connection , therefore, I had used some used a tiny bit of gold from a broken phone to reattach by soldering it to circuit to board. Works perfect now!

I flipped the indiglo button off of an old watch my husband had and there was a ton of junk under the button. I took a toothpick and toothbrush and scraped it out. I used the very small flat head eyeglass screwdriver to flip off the button.

Time traveler from the future here.... You need to disassemble the watch and solder the contact of the face button for the indiglo. Easy fix. There are numerous people with the same problem. Ugliest watch on the planet by the way. 😆

I bought a used watch with the indiglo button stuck. I figure the original owner left the light on too long, with the button stuck, which eventually burned the indiglo-light out. ... Pity.

So... I was changing the battery on my Timex Expedition watch, and I think the little gold piece (the lever for the indiglo button) that goes under the "Indiglo" button, came out, and I don't know where it came from in the watch... Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

That’s an all day indiglo watch. That tech came out 1996. KZbin don’t need to press the button. And if you do during daylight it won’t show. Did you try a dark room zero light and press indiglo?

When you changed the battery did the module come out of the casing, if it did you might have damaged the prongs on the button or where it makes contact on the module.

Hi, no, the module did not come out of the case. And Yes, I agree with you, those prongs are very delicate when the module comes out of the case careful installation is a must. Thanks for your suggestion! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Similar though opposite problem. Replaced the battery for my T40091 and reassembled the watch. Now the backlight does not work despite the moon showing when holding the button down. If you discover what to do please let me know. Edit: T40941 is my watch.

I just revived an old expedition watch with indiglo (745T89). I made sure to hit the reset button near the batter insert. There was instructions to hit the reset button. I was not sure if it worked but the screen did do a reset. I was worried the indiglo would not work but all is well. Now just trying to find a good replacement band.

I have the same watch but different stye and my button stopped working last week. Reseting the watch didnt help me. When I push the button I can see a tiny bit of indiglo light coming from the edge but thats it. Really disappointing.

Light on for a short time days ago, today no display. Changed the battery. Was sure of the backplate orientation. Put it back together, reset, set time, but no Indigo light when pressed. Took it apart again. Noticed the glued insulation on the backplate didn't orientate with the battery and the two gold springs to the backplate would fall too close to the glued insulation so I flipped the backplate around after cleaning the metal well. Still no Indigo light, no sound as if an oscillator to charge for the light - earlier comments said there was a sound. Might even try again...

Apart again, no joy. Saw the gold lever has a contact on the far side, somewhat away from the watch bent slightly, might connect with the backplate and springs. Have two old ironman's and took one backplate off. Now I realize that probably isnt a glued insulator but a capacitor of some kind and something is suppose to touch its inner whitish surface. Without a capacitor some oscillator won't work. ...

My mistake. Of the two old watches one is an Expedition Indigo and the other an Ironman. Taking apart the older Expedition, it has a screw down battery clamp rather than a clip and also had a genuine button instead of a gold lever. First attempt was to swap backplates in case the capacitor was bad, didn't work. Then putting the good battery in the older Expedition then into the newer case didn't work, still no Indigo light but clock works. Will now go to old Expedition case with the old Expedition innards. ...

Old Expedition, new battery, original case, clock works until the Indigo light button is pressed then the watch face blanks then comes back. It probably isn't fingerprint oil on the capacitor but rather when the battery runs down too low something fails for good. Battery was down below a half volt and clock was working but not light.

Searching a desk drawer found yet another Expedition.... Guts out, new battery, into newest case with the last old case back plate, keeps time, touch the Indigo button and the watch blanks. This is my only CR2016 and measures just over 3 volts but has been stored for some time. Perhaps these blank because the 'new' battery is old. I like the older Expedition real covered button as opposed to the newer gold lever. Will put all this aside until I get new batteries.

Joy. Yesterday a couple of older Expedition innards, made in China, with an Indiglo light button that looks like a capacitive button rather than the Philippines model with the gold lever, into the newest Philippines case would blank instead of lighting the Indiglo backlight. I was using an old new battery that measured over 3.0 volts. Today with a new battery measuring 3.2v I put it in the new case with old innards and instead of blanking the display the Indiglo light works. I will _not_ make the effort of trying the newest innards with a new battery. It might work but I should note I had a succession of inexpensive trailcams that although the battery indicator showed not depleted, if let go too low the camera was ruined beyond my troubleshooting skills.

I think you may be full of shit on that one John... Can you validate this?? For starters a CR 2016 is a big robust power supply/battery with way more girth and reserve than something like a little 371... Js

Hold indiglo button. If you get a moon then it is not the button.

@@cstan1414 If you hold the Indiglo button for 4 seconds, the moon appears. Then you can push any button on the watch to activate indiglo. It's supposed to make it easier to operate in the dark, etc. After 8 hours, the moon automatically disappears.

Change the battery for a fresh one ... trust me I got the same problem with a good battery ... I replaced it with a new one ... and VOILA !!! light is back.

@@270eha19 No I don't have that problem. Maybe just pick up another one if like that model. .... Someone else mentioned it has a second battery for the light... I don't know if that's true or not.

I am thinking of buying this one and was researching a bit. I found a video where the person had revived an old watch which is the same model as yours.
