Hey Tim, love your videos and lessons. Thank you so much, I appreciate everything you do. It's my birthday today and I was wondering if you could entertain a request for your next video. There's was folk singer named Stan Rogers that's from my neck of the woods, who died in a tragic plane accident before his time. Stan performed a song called "down the road" at a club in California a couple of days before he passed away. I think this song is great but sadly there are no good tutorials on how to play it on KZbin. I would love to learn how to play it from a Tim guitar lesson. I also think there's a good story behind this artist and song that your audience would appreciate, if you want to research and unravel it. There are some creepy parallels between the lyrics of the song and how he ultimately died a few days after his performance of the song. I'll give you the thread for the story and maybe if your inclined to tell it you can, but if not, just a lesson without the story that would be great. Story Thread: The song would be considered a farewell song which is kind of creepy on its own because he dies just a few days later, but more than that, the lyrics in the second verse of the song say "in the dark they sit, as they holler for more, white smoke in a wisp, from here to the door". This resonates with me due to the nature of how he died. He died from smoke inhalation caused by a malfunction with the plane he was on. The plane had to make an emergency landing at Greater Cincinnati Airport in northern Kentucky because a fire had started in the cabin, filling it with... white smoke. Stan and the majority of the passengers on the plane were pronounced dead at the scene. Some made it out but I can imagine it being dark in the planes cabin when it had to make an emergency landing and the passengers were most likely sitting in their seats hollering for more...air. These are just a couple of examples but there are more parallels that could be drawn to if you study the lyrics and his untimely death. The song : kzbin.info/www/bejne/naHMpGOHaLt1fMk Wiki: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stan_Rogers

How’d you get so good at strumming?!
@Snooknuggets Жыл бұрын
HAILP!
@TimGuitarLessons Жыл бұрын
Hey Tommy! It's just one of those things that takes a lot of practice... In my earlier years of playing guitar I started the habit of practicing "strumming" rhythms to songs by just patting my right hand against an armrest or my leg as I listened to music. Hitting with the snare, or purposefully hitting on the upbeat against the snare, subdividing the beats into 4 counts and 3 counts. Sometimes not just patting along but literally pinching my first and thumb into position like I had a pick in it, and brushing down and up in rhythm to songs I was listening to against the side of my leg or and armrest or some point of contact that I could brush past and back up relatively easily to allow fluidity of motion like I could get on a guitar. This is the type of practice you dont even need a guitar for and can do on roadtrips or long flights with earbuds in
@Snooknuggets Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the response Tim. That’s a good little tip. I can see you counting to four in between the small f, c and g in this song with your strumming hand. It makes sense to just practice the rhythm anywhere. Still trying to get down the foot tapping as well. Thanks for everything!
