What's up Tim. Nice one! Palm muting is so important to having control of the guitar and it's super important to creative expression on the instrument.

Great, detailed lesson on palm muting Tim! I enjoy watching you play. When things are done right, everything sounds good. You can play the low E and totally rock it. You can tell you are good even when playing one string.

this video is a godsend as i couldnt figure out how to palm mute alternate pick like with a lot of punk music (Dammit, Blink182) the slant in the thumb makes so much more sense!

Hey Tim, love your lessons and the way you teach! Any chance you would do a lesson on money for nothing by dire straights?

There is a chance I will do that. Thanks for the suggestion!

Good lesson. Any idea when you will start doing lessons on the “Black” album?
@TimHolman8 ай бұрын
I'm going to finish the Puppets album first. 4 more to go. Then I'll do Black Album stuff along with the rest of the Justice album.

SUBSCRIBED! Is that drop D or standard tuning? I'm 59 years old and retired and decided it is time to work on my bucket list. I love metal and just want to have fun with some chugs and gallops at home. I really want my play to start to sound musical as well and sound better. I'm using a Katana Boss MKII amp and an Epiphone Les Paul Standard. Even on the internet your guitar sounds SO GOOD and I wish I could get that sound. Do I need a better amp or guitar for that quality of sound or is it something else? I did start lessons, and my instructor has set one of the presets to the best sound we could come up with. He thinks it's fine for now, but what do you think I should do or buy? I imagine you will say just learn how to play first, but I ask because I know that good sound keeps me motivated, and we all need motivation! Thanks in advance!

is there a name for stabbing your pick down to create a harsher sound on acoustic?
@TimHolman8 ай бұрын
If it's a downstroke stab that you're referring to I would just call it an accent. There are different degrees of accented notes/chords and notation even has symbols to indicate an accented versus a heavily accented note.

ive never angled my pick to alternate pick and have no problems
@winter.nostalgie.6666 ай бұрын
if i use a sharp pick i need to angle it,but a more rounded pick would work better with no angle.It also change the palm muting tone,just depends on what you're aiming for.But there shouldn't be any tension
