In this episode we have the folk rock band from Pokhara coming together after a long hiatus performing their hit singles Timi Pari released in in 1995 and Lekaki Hey Maya released in 1996. Vocalist Bivek Shrestha flew down from Australia to reunite with his band Kandara just for this special performance for their fans on Kripa Unplugged

I’m 20 now. My dad used to sing ‘timi paari tyo gaun ma’ and ‘taagaro ma rumal raakhi’. I slowly fell in love with those songs. I sang ‘timi paari tyo gaun ma’ at our farewell from school a few years back..... After reading all these comments where everyone is sharing their nostalgic moments related to this song, those beautiful old days , I realized we are the luckiest generation who lived and witnessed the golden era of Nepali pop music. No social media, no youtube, no internet just pure music. We had to buy CD/cassatte to listen to these songs or had to wait till 5pm when Channel Nepal used to air a phoning program where they play these songs. These songs connects us to the purity, innocence and peaceful culture of Nepal. No vulgarity, no over hyped music, no clutter, just pure melody. I am sure it took them weeks if not months to create such beautiful songs, only then they could live in our hearts forever. We cannot appreciate enough for the composers, singers, lyricists enough for their music. Unfortunately, this generation never understood the value of good song. These days, we can hardly find a song or two that stay in our heart. They say music connects everyone and undoubtedly this is one of those songs which connects and takes us back to 90s and early 20s.

Ok seriously Bibek Shrestha is the most underrated singer in Nepal. Just love this guy. Jun geet sune ni you feel his voice. Ever since the school days am not just a damn big fan of Kandara but even a bigger fan of Bibek. My favourite song of all time “Zindagi yo Utsav ho, bardan Ishwor ko”. Never gets old... Timi Pari.. when I was in class 9, I used to tap desk for music and one of my friend used to sing this song.. still in my memory that golden days of school.. there were many fantastic bands on that time such as 1974AD, Nepathye, Thy Sky, cobweb and many more.. love and respect to all these bands but no one replaced my love for songs of Kandara..

I want to share one moment... No doubt that I’m huge fan of Kandara. I think, it was 2010 after split the band Bibek Shrestha offered him for concert in Australia which was organised by GURKHA NEPALESE COMMUNITY. Vibek Shrestha was on stage, ready for Lekhaki Hey Maya and he suddenly called to Sushma Gurung(original vocal of Timi ramri chhau) for joining him. OMG That was the moment I coudn’t stop my tears .. what a history moment.. (Sushma Gurung- she is original singer of first female part of Lekhaki Hey Maya and she sang Mardi Khola for Nepathye as well)

मैले दिनमा एक चोटी त यो गीत सुन्छु नै अनि जती सुने पनि सुनी रहन मन लाग्छ । पहिला को version को भन्दा नि यो video को चाही music को audio quality राम्रो भएर होल, यो सुन्न अझै मजा आउछ । especially, timi pari, song has even beautiful words, but lekaki hey maya is also beautiful. Nowadays, I barely find such a beautiful songs with beautiful lyrics on recent songs.
