Man o man, that thing sounds amazing after what you did. I have an 89 YJ with the 4.2 that I’ve had a hard time to get running better and this video is the best I’ve come across and exactly what I need. I have the Motorcraft 2150 on mine and still running the mechanical fuel pump, but basics is basics. Also put in the HEI as well and eliminated the ECU and the vacuum/smog crap.

I have an HEI 1 hot wire ,1 tach. ! vac to advance on the HEI. 1 to the brake booster. That;s it, No vac lines And much less wires. This equals a very clean engine bay. Simple and old school easy, Oh and a Crown 2bbl carb. No elect choke. I rigged a manual choke. GREAT VIDEO Very Very informative!

Don't take this the wrong way, but you need a tripod or have someone else run the camera. You have one of the best car videos I have seen. You know what you are doing and you do it right. Its the photography that needs help. You need more time to make the video so you can pick the camera angles before doing the adjustments and have time to cut and move the camera. I wish I could help you with this, but I am in TN.

Thanks for the great video, I'm going to use what I learned and see if it helps cure my "running-on" issue.

Nice video. I have an 88 as well and the first thing I did was swap the Carter for a Weber 32/36. Most likely will be moving to an EFI after a full rebuild on the engine.

Hey man! I just found your channel and subscribed. I really like your carb and timing video I just watched! I just inherited my brothers 87 yj and it needs some love. I may shoot you some questions this spring when I get started rehabbing it!! Thanks again!! Brian Ashworth

Good info. It will help me. Do you have a video further explaining adjusting the sol-vac and fast and curb idle screws?

My 89 yj loses fuel pressure if it sits for a few hours. Crank crank crank and it eventually fires and starts. Idle sould clean and smooth. I've not put any tools to it yet. Thoughts?

I have a 1980 CJ5 Renegade with a 258 4.2 liter inline 6. What kind/brand of spark plugs do you recommend?

Where can i find electric cable that's connected to the stepper motor, just bought a jeep wrangler yj 1990 and that cable is missing, could that be the reason why my jeep wont start? Can i bypass it since i dont have that cable?

Move the distributor around until it smooths out, that will get you close.

Do you think you could tell me where the fuel pump is wired
@southernjeepand4x4813 жыл бұрын
Originally it was mechanical, this one is a aftermarket electric pump.

Hi, do you think this engine could run on Holley Sniper EFI with E85 (permanent, not flex fuel) by using the same additive as advertised in your video? Snifer EFI's injectors are not ethanol rated.
@southernjeepand4x4813 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't run E85 in this engine.

Does a motor like this need an O2 sensor? I'm having issues getting my 4.2L through DEQ, the CO and CO2 are way too high.
@southernjeepand4x4812 жыл бұрын
No O2 sensors if it has a carburetor, check the ignition system and the carburetor to make sure they are all working properly.

The fuel pump should be on a lower point because it's not a good sucker.

Wow yeah you not know…. Saying you Rich’d the mixture by turning the air mix screws out but that’s adding air which is lean… or maybe you were just breathing too many exhaust fumes by being 750rpm which is near the high rpm circuit drawing from the main jets rather than being fully in the idle low speed circuit Try again dude
