Your supposed to like it up exactly on the T that is ATDC you have it past it that’s why your crank mark was past the mark on the belt
@sebastianstevens89884 жыл бұрын
Immediately after pulling the tensioner pin, will the cams drop backwards a hair leaving them directly on TDC or did you have to coax them on over?
@brendonvickers96714 жыл бұрын
The T to right of cam timing mark is where you set it for timing belt swap there is also one for the crank
@nordicpride97084 жыл бұрын
Actually you are wrong. He set it up perfectly. You don’t line it up with the “T”. Follow the instructions or you are doing it incorrectly.

@@nordicpride9708 Look in the toyota manual for doing a belt swap setting cams to the t is the correct way to do it. Take it or leave it but thats how its done
@nordicpride97084 жыл бұрын
Brendon Vickers Not sure what variant you are speaking on but a 2UZ-FE with VVT-I uses the “I” mark to align the timing belt. Not the “T”. The Aisin manual also confirms that in fact the “T” is to not be referenced.... Maybe you should put out a public service announcement that you are doing it right and all of the experienced mechanics on here are f****d up...

My 2006 Gx470 has an oily mess that seems to be coming from behind the passenger side camshaft gear. The mess flows down inside the timing coves onto the tensioner then all the way down under the Crank sprocket and out onto my driveway, ugh!!! I will be replacing the seal to the passenger side cam, clean the mess, new timing belt, water pump, tensioner, pulleys, gaskets and whatever else gets in my way. Thanks for the video and the info. First timer, wish me luck, fingers crossed. Now where's that damn 10mm.

How did it go brother?

Got it done while I was here at home while on paid admin leave. Long story, don’t ask 😂 Followed a couple of videos here on YT. Purchased the ASIN kit and also replaced the oil seal on the passenger side camshaft. Car has been running great, oil leak is gone and I saved about $1k. All is good.

@@percyjackson2800 NIce!! I'm getting ready to change out my TB and WP on my 05' Sequoia Limited again. Same 2UZFE engine as your Lexus Gx470. I have put a 150k miles on my last TB and WP. I'm now approaching 300k. My favorite motor ever!

Percy....I am assuming you changed your camshaft seals as well....I just did mine as well......PITA as camshafts have to be pulled and disassembled to install seal....did you do both sides and replace crankshaft seal ad well ?
@percyjackson28002 жыл бұрын
@@bilge77 I only replaced the passenger side camshaft seal. I know, I know… should have done both. Time will tell.

@@LLCoolPass What you can do is buy it from amazon, then go to your local toyota dealer and ask to see the belt or item, or buy it and return it the next day to see if you got a fake or not.

Why to line up the mark on the timing belt with the one on the crank wheel is important, does the mark on the timing belt will hold the crank wheel from going crazy?
@bilge772 жыл бұрын
Just use the "T " mark on the camshaft pulley timing marks ....the crankshaft pulley mark will be lined up with the white dot on the crankcase cover.... ..forget about lining up crankshaft pulley mark with idler puller bolt....approx 50 degrees past TDC....waste of time
