These games felt like I was watching someone get bullied. The zealots showed up like a bunch of rowdy jocks and shoved the zerg into their lockers. Always nice to see base defences actually being used too.

Ok so this MC is the same MC that was in SC2, thanks for specifying that cause I have been wondering. Nice good to see him around in BW!

I think the protoss here was almost revolutionary. Quick legs zealots everywhere. Hitting before lurkers make piñata out of them. Also splitting mess so much with zerg they need to mass the hidras. Maybe to counter just keep on zerlings

There was a build a few years ago, I think just before hydra busts got super good, that was a +1 attack, zealot legs and archon to apply pressure on the zerg. I was fairly successful against my friends and many pros used it too. I wonder if some variant of it will make a return

I really like MC's style. He really pays attention to the details. I see tons of players allow the lings into the base but MC had it covered completely. Impressive play!

LOVE the hedged cannons at the nexus game 1 on citadel, so much more than the traditional placement like in game 2. assuming they reached wall for ling all-in, I still like them for hydra because unlike traditional forward placement at wall, by sacrificing the wall which will go down anyways, the farther back placement forces the hydras to kill wall first to hit warping cannons, whereas a forward cannon placement leaves them vulnerable to hydras just poking forward a little and picking them off over the wall. But more importantly was the aftereffect. The cannons zone the natural nexus and probes better, if the zerg doesnt commit to hydra bust, the flow of units leaving main and nat gets clogged by forward positioned cannons, no need to tear down cannons later to make way for army move out, also cannons cover the smaller more defensible choke between , main where units rally up and cannons off to side making 2 angles of attack for hitting zerg push. I think he had 1 cannon denied? maybe? I just really appreciate that MC wasn't afraid to make cannons earlier than necessary, and more than he absolutely needed, because they also present a threat, unlike turrets T_T. I wonder though if batteries, ala sc2, isn't one of the next optimizations, to really give those initial slow zlots staying power to push back hydras sniping in cannons. I honestly think protoss don't know how batteries work, or that they don't need to have units play tag on it, and can use RANGED, AoE, and (to my eyes) INSTANT Recharge, vs the 1 at a time manual charging that make units dock like mario bros...

Yeah, I mean, it makes sense. Raw aggression can be very effective in Starcraft, but if you're at a high level, it's probably at least in part because you've developed the ability to manage and respond to such aggression, making less effective on average...

I'm not a Starcfaft player, but one thing just boggles my mind, why zerg did not build at least one sunken colony at important bases?
@samc91337 ай бұрын
It feels like they are committed to aggression so they only want to build units at that stage in the game. They can have several sunks or a small group of hydras, they go with the latter. Seems like that's better when you're the one putting pressure on the other side of the map. If you're the one being pressed and your forces get split up it feels much worse to not have any static defense. My two cents anyway.

he wasn't decisive enough to be aggressive here. you talk about decisive play and how you need to commit to aggression, but it was too low commitment. i look at players like soulkey when he decides to be aggro he completely shifts to attack mode.
