@@TimKreitzAdventures He wants to sell it. After my ride I told him he shouldn't get rid of it, unless I can be first in line. He is getting older, hip cramps and fatigue sets in quickly due to the riding position. I found it to be more comfortable than my CBR, quicker as well. Would you happen to know the ballpark price on a silver 2004 model? 13k miles. Thank you for your time, again sick bike!

In good condition and with low miles, probably between $3K and $4K USD.

Good Lord.....your old school is new school to me. I'm so freaking old. My newest bike was an 88 Yamaha FZ700. My oldest bike, my last bike was a 78 KZ1000.
@TimKreitzAdventures3 жыл бұрын
I restored a 1978 KZ1000 LTD and loved it. I sold it about seven years ago and it was one of the worst mistakes I've ever made. BTW, I've been riding since 1978 and to me the ZRX isn't terribly old. That said, KZbin is generally a young audience, so to them, something designed in the '90s is old-school.

Love this. In the process of trying to find a clean lower mileage zrx. Kinda went back and forth between a zrx and a newer z900 cafe and even looked at new Africa twins but something about the old zrx’s has always made me want one.
@TimKreitzAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Check the online forums. There always seem to be a few up for grabs here and there. Note that these bikes do have a few design flaws that need to be dealt with, but the mods and fixes are readily available. The ZRX is a lot of fun. It has a character and feel that modern bikes are missing. Good luck.
@DWBmotorsports3 жыл бұрын
@@TimKreitzAdventures which flaws do you think need dealt with? I just found a one owner with 7500 miles on it. It’s about 6 hours from me but it seems like an excellent deal.
@TimKreitzAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Check for rattling inside the clutch cover. That's usually the starter chain tensioner failing, an easy but important fix. Also, the fan switch sensors on these bikes are prone to failure, so run the bike up to temperature and make sure it turns on. I would also load test the battery if it's more than a few years old, as the ZRX charging system is a bit hard on them. Lastly, ask if the first valve check has been done. If not, you'll need to do it soon post-purchase, as the ZRX almost always requires adjustment unless it has been ridden gingerly. Good luck and cheers. A 7,500-mile example is practically unheard of these days.

This is the kind of old-school bike that should still be in production! I'd rather have one of these than the newer retro-styled things that are coming out now (and there was recently a pretty good-looking '05 for sale down the street, horrible temptation, but there are three bikes in the garage now, I still have the '73 Yamaha TX500 to finish restoring), just drop in some ZX cams....

No doubt. Once you get out there in the passing position, you have to go around all of them. The worst thing is getting stuck on a little motorcycle between a couple of semis.
