Unless the parents have a strict moral basis (and most of the time I believe not to be the case) I don’t think a kid has the structure to handle fame. Not to mention, in the majority of these cases, the parents are the ones to consent with the abuse.

This is what Andresen said of his experience; Adult love for adolescents is something that I am against in principle, emotionally perhaps, and intellectually, I am disturbed by it - because I have some insight into what this kind of love is about. I was just 16 when Visconti and the team took me to a gay nightclub. Almost all the crew were gay. The waiters at the club made me feel very uncomfortable. They looked at me uncompromisingly as if I was a nice meaty dish. I knew I couldn't react, it would have been social suicide. it was the first of many such encounters. Such comments makes one wonder how Anderson acquired his insight regarding the kind of love he was alluding to! What a dehumanizing experience. This was really sad and should not have been allowed; a powerful gay director abusing his position to exploit a straight young minor, which probably left him with a sense of not belonging and a lack of identity and connectivity which led to his sense of not belonging and a lack of identity and connectivity which caused a heightened sense of social isolation and unhappiness later in life. Visconti was known for his cruelty as a director, self-centeredness and his love for attractive leading men (not forgetting minors in this case), used indirect cinematic language in which words and images were charged with simultaneously hiding and disclosing that which couldn't be named or shown. When asked what Death in Venice was about he said it was about loneliness, deliberately ignoring the fact that the film was full of HOMOEROTIC undercurrents and repressed homosexual desires whilst using a minor to deliver his message by titillating those of similar sexual orientation as his own. The visual contents were intentionally sexually solicitous even if not necessarily sexually explicit. The message was clear; to induce sexual arousal at the expense of a young innocent minor. That's what I call ABUSE OF POWER.

The film is Death In Venice (1971) and was based on the 1912 novel by Thomas Mann, who wrote it in an Italian hotel while undergoing an existential crises as he had just recently become obsessed with a beautiful 11 year old Polish boy who was staying at the hotel. Other inspirations behind the story were his actual attractions to his very young son. There was also rumors that the Mann family had generations worth of inbreeding but those are just rumors.
@diogeneslaercio56412 жыл бұрын
I think this is a accute representation of human longing for a higher beauty. Thorough the novel, the aching and desesperate yearning for it appears in the most palpable way, a truly representative piece of romanticism. Von Aschenbach persues Tadzio , and burns and collapses on him, as Socrates persued the ultimate form of beauty ("An this is, Phaedrus...", that reminiscence is truthful to this). There's no wonder he felt powerless, speechless and intimidated when he faced it.

I saw him recently and thought to myself, he really looks like 80s and 90s anime characters- then I came across an article about how he effected Japan. He was basically the bishounen figure in 70s and had a huge effect in shounen mangas&animes

I need a creative crackhead energy retelling of this book from Tadzio’s perspective and I’ve been saying this for years but nothing ever happens
@simaitayim69792 жыл бұрын
Your comment is interesting but the more I think about it, I realize Tadzio's perspective doesn't exist because Aschenbach's entire experience is a subjective illusion. Tadzio is just going about his life, so there wouldn't be much to tell. In other words, it isn't a story that involves the both of them. Tadzio is completely oblivious and Aschenbach is suffering with a complete fiction, and of course, on a deeper level, with himself and his deterioration.

This movie looks so good visually but unfortunately it left a big trauma to Björn Andrésen. A story of much child abuse. 50 years later, a documentary called the most beautiful boy in the world was released, where Björn narrates the story from his place as a victim. Two producers had the idea of making the documentary when they knew a little about his history, but it took them 6 years to get Björn to open up and tell everything he lived through after participating in that damn movie. The price of beauty and fame was very high for a boy so young and unprotected.

It's saddening to see how an innocent young boy was expolited and how his beauty was turned into a curse rather than a gift because of what people did with it! People can get so blinded by beauty so they can't see the person behind the face! And don't we all want someone to see us and love us....

yes, he was handsome during his youth. We all get old and beauty fades. Just like everyone else. We have to stop dehumanizing someone just because they are beautiful or gorgeous. God definitely favored those people, but, we also have to learn how to appreciate our own beauty. People back then didn't have cameras or modern equipment to see that everyone is actually beautiful. It was easy to exaggerate something so people can easily be influenced.
