Ma is little bit faster and has better forehand. If it was only for the technique he would have won. But it's not. When the end comes closer, nerves start to affect the game and then it's all about how you can concentrate only on the game and forget about the points. In this stage experience is what matters the most.

Boll is much older and has a serious back injury since 10years. You can see it when he avoids forehand topspins from the bachhand side, or fast movement with his upper body in general. So he has to rely on his ball placement and overall tactics. When he was younger he appeard much quicker.

Boll has the greatest PR manager for sure and whole Butterfly/ITTF hype machine behind him,even the Chinese like him 'cause he never beat them in a major tournament and makes them look strong losing to players like Qi Yike in the WTTC.His record in the WTTC is pretty poor,before 2009 he had never even faced a top Chinese player,in the Olympics he hasn't even reached the quarter final.But yes,his coaches will always hype him as the best European ever to promote themselves,he is a product of German system,huge amount of investment with marginal outcomes.

Philip Beyer Beside hitting the ball with your racket, your only allowed to play with with your hitting hand. If anything else of the body touches the ball, the point goes to the opponent. Your shirt counts as a body part and therefore he gave the point to Ma Long
