I saw Dune 2 last night and oh my god. It was such a beautiful film and all of the actors played their roles so well. I have a lot of respect for an actor who can play a psychotic character really well and that’s exactly what Austin Butler did and I think that’s very commendable. Also, the cinematography of that film and the locations where they filmed and the music really pulled the movie together. I think a great setting and a great soundtrack can really make a movie so much better. I was mesmerized by the movie and I think it was beautifully made so 👏.

Both Chalamet and Butler have good looks and both seem like nice people, but Austin Butler just seems a bit more genuine. Especially with the way he thanked the interviewer (giving some genuine feedback on the interview while he was at it). Makes watching his impressive performance all the more enjoyable.

I hate to say that I agree with this to a point. I have struggled with putting into words why I wasn't as emotionally impacted by Dune 2 as I expected to be. It didn't even leave me with as much of an impression, emotionally, as Dune 1 did.

This isnt criticism but did seem like the arena and harkonen homeworld scenes were put in black and white to hide some unpolished comping of the actors that was still noticable compared to the rest of the film, but i commend that effort to save scenes that couldnt be reshot in a way that could easily pass as the orginal artistic intent

Harkonnen world view is black and white. Those who have power and those who don't. That's how they see it. Think of the Roman empire. I mean, they've even got the colosseum and uncles kissing nephews. Pretty intentional if you ask me.

They weren't "put in black and white". They weren't even actually black and white. Every outdoor scene on Giedi Prime was filmed in infrared + with a special filter. That's why it may sometimes look a bit "off", and any scene they wanted to replace would have to be shot the exact same way (and if they didn't want to do the infrared they would've had to reshoot the entire thing).
