OMG - I saw POCO more times than I can remember in NY & NJ - back in the day!!! I, along with every other woman, was in love with Timothy B Schmit! He was and is still so handsome - he just has the face of an angel and the voice of an angel, too. I would pay big money to have him come and sing this song to me. .

"Caroline, No"is one of the all-time great pop ballads, and Brian's wonderfully doleful and plaintive tenor voice does full justice to the song.

Timothy has the voice of an angel. Brian's angel voice at his prime was better in conveying emotion, as well as staying perfectly on pitch. Two angels, close call but I will go with original version as my preference for emotional impact.

Timothy B Schmit would have been a fabulous member of the Beach Boys. This version of Caroline No is sublime. Timothy should do a whole album of the very best of the Beach Boys sophisicated material (and, boy, I have the original sheetmusic songbook which has chords Debussy would be proud of...Brian was writing to classical music standards but people were misled by Barbara Ann etc.). He should sing Here Today, God Only Knows, Little Bird, Forever, All I Wanna Do, Please Let Me Wonder. and so on.

Whenever I hear this masterful interpretation of BW's Pet Sounds Classic song of Lost Love, I feel an overwhelming sense of loss. Sadly, this song was the last time we ever heard the Late & Great Carl Wilson with The Beach Boys. His soaring " Carline Noooooo", at the ending, is done as only Carl could ever do it--& that Ladies & Gents, was his final vocal moment on tape with his Beloved Beach Boys. Recorded in early '96, final mixdown Feb. '96, with Jimmy Webb's orchestration. Wolfsky9

This is one of the most beautiful and profound songs in all of popular music and full marks to Timothy Schmidt's fabulous singing, the Beach Boys great harmonies, Jimmy Webb's superb and moving orchestration and Brian and Tony Asher's respective music and lyrics.

Hello folks, I'm glad to hear that you like the TBS video. Here's a bit more info for you. The clip is from a documentary which described the making of the album entitled "Stars and Stripes" by the Beach Boys. The theme of the album is centered around classic BB songs but sung by country & western stars such as Lorrie Morgan, Willie Nelson etc. Tim sings this song in full on the actual CD release of the album.."The Beach Boys - Stars and Stripes". Ken

Hello Cat, in 1996 the Beach Boys put together a project to record an assortment of their classic hits...nothing new there of course. However, this project was intended to feature their songs interpreted by Nashville country music artists. An album was released entitled "Stars and Stripes" featuring such luminaries as Willie Nelson, Lorrie Morgan and of course, Tim. As well as the album, the actual recording sessions were filmed....and this is where the video comes from. Ken

@derekec10 жыл бұрын
On it's own this version is classic and Tim's voice is 100% perfect. But Brian's is 110% (or more). Brian has a characteristic bite and edge to his voice that gives more depth and character. But nothing against Tim - in fact hearing this makes me like and respect him all the more

Hello Diane and thank you for the very kind words about the video. The video was made at the time of the release of the album, 1996. There are two albums.... one was the "full" version containing 12 tracks, with #12 being "Caroline No". But just before the release of the full album, a "sampler" album was issued featuring 6 tracks with "Caroline No" being the 4th track. The video itself was a promotional one....with my favourites being "Don't Worry Baby" sung by Lorrie Morgan (terrific) and Tim Schmit singing "Caroline No." (sheer heaven). I'm glad you enjoyed it. Kind regards.... Ken
