Live Free or Die Hard, Hitman, The Crazies, amongst others. Olyphant brings his own style to every part he plays. How in the hell Justified ran all those years and I never knew about it is beyond me. Seriously, I didn't know it existed, until I saw a clip from it recently. I bought the entire series on DVD and I'm working my way through it. I'd give him an Emmy hands down.

Where has this hilarious and likable Olyphant been hiding? I thought he was a bum of an actor till I took a shot on Justified. He's great on that show, but he's out and out hilarious here. I see him slaying on Conan regularly. Guess he really has been held down by the industry. Same thing with Tatum, who is wood in dramatic roles, but kills in in the 21 Jump Street remake. The studio big shots believe the really handsome guys have to be the next Newman or Mcqueen, instead of the next Bill Murray or John Goodman.

Everything I've ever heard or read about Olyphant suggests that he doesn't really want to be an A-list star that badly. He's talked about how much he enjoys getting to do fun/interesting jobs, without it dominating his life. If he was more deliberate about planning his roles and working the system, the way people like Will Smith and Tom Cruise are, he'd be much better known than he is.

I just finished a Justified binge and it's funny because I had a thought in my head that somewhere around s2-4 he really leaned into the character, especially the accent, noticeably. I'd have to watch it again to actually pick up where or if it's just in my head. But interesting to see him commenting on changing up accents, whether or not that's true.

Timothy has a type of charisma that comes with being fully in the situation at hand and rolling with it. There may be a pre-planned story, but he always remains open to the energy of the room and the host. I find that Shia Labeouf has that same quality. This style makes it so that neither the host nor the interviewee has to laugh awkwardly or politely as the jokes and banter are inherently based on the energy between them in that moment, rather than being contrived funny remarks. Other celebs often come with a "funny anecdote" and then just answer whatever questions the host might have. Thus the energy remains forcefully 'closed-in' on the celeb. Which can work well too.

This was one of the greatest series ever. I named our male pit bull Raylan. Me wife had not followed the series very close but when we bought a female pit pull I said let's name her Ava. My wife said we weren't going to name all the dogs after the characters on Justified. I said how about we call her Crowder? My wife liked that. A few days later my daughter ask what we had decided to call the dog. My wife said Crowder. My daughter said oh, like Ava Crowder. I laughed.
