To me it looks too much like the X1. I actually really like the way the new X1 looks but I don't think it works that well on the X3. To me the X3 should look like a baby X5, not a blown-up X1.

The majority of bmw's sales are in china. This product is now designed primarily for the mainland chinese customer. That's why the interior is asus ROG edition now.

I think I’ll stick with my 2018 version 3 X3 , 3.0D MSport, 5.7 0-60 , easily 45 mpg on a run and drives like a limo, with “ normal “ buttons 😊

I have a G01 and everybody speaks as it is finished like a X7 and way better than the G45…there are bad plastics and also misalignments in the G01 too.. and I got it full packs leather and everything… I saw it real in BMW Manhattan and the interior is not a Dacia or VW interior… all the comments like if everyone have a RR or Maybach…

@ it is up to everyone but for having actually one it is not as perfect as everybody tell.. way better for example is the actual 3.. I don’t think it worth all the bashing it is still nice overall ! ​​@@TMS5100 X3 has never completed with the Macan - that's more expensive car. Likely they lose sales to Audi/Merc/Volvo/Polestar and potentially to premium Chinese cars like the BYD Denza Z9 GT which will hit out shores soon.

@TMS5100 the Macan costs about £10k more than an equivalent X3 because much of the kit has to be added manually as options. Porsche is a brand that charges £269 just to add a rear wiper for example.

no more programmable quick access buttons. piano black buttons on the steering wheel. distance following adjustment buttons removed from the steering wheel and buried 6 levels deep in idrive. plastic steering wheel airbag cover. a freaking interior facing camera so bmw can watch your passengers and sell data. metal skid plates in the trunk is now gone. accent lighting removed from the rear. roof no longer opens. you now have to bend over to reach the trunk release button. this does not seem like progress. at least bmw has completely abandoned runflats now.

I planned to place an order until i saw it. It is just so cheaply made.. The "luxury" cloth on dashboard is like from a bluetooth speaker. Also the fact that you cannot close that huge phonebox compartment is utter stupidity. Yuck...

Ok, this is for the UK but in the States, other than the available drivetrains and the slick tow set up, it’s the same. We don’t have the option of a plug in hybrid or diesel. I definitely agree that they cut costs (I sign on to all the snarky comments which are richly deserved by BMW) and in ways that from a manufacturing standpoint don’t make real sense except needlessly cheapening the interior at this price point. To add to what was pointed out, there is no comfort access on rear doors, lighting in the rear has disappeared, and the roof no longer opens (allegedly to reduce maintenance issues….really?) all in a car that for the M50 fully kitted out runs about US $75K. Also, personal rant is that in the US, BMW’s that if you get the tow hitch, you lose the kick opening function. It blocks the sensor. Clearly a case where BMW is designed for Europe and could not be bothered to design a sensor that could not be blocked for one of its largest markets. Not a huge issue, but just know if you are tall, the manual button to open the lift gate is much lower. Not an easy reach. Vents are needlessly complicated and to use a word “fiddley”. Not a deal killer, but like so many things in the cabin, it’s as if the person who argues for ease of function at BMW got made redundant. Another thing in this car to take your attention away from the road. Sorry for everyone who likes buttons, they are mainly gone and that goes for an increasing significant number of cars today. Some say it is a design element, but it does cut huge costs. It is what it is. Not going to go on about the packages and extras, that is the game that BMW has played for years and it’s the cost of owning one. But I will agree, it really is a great driving car and for those who enjoy driving, there are not a lot of good alternative in this space.

Have owned and love BMW but the pricing and standard equipment now takes the p*ss. Also residuals aren’t that good so you will lose a mountain of cash. Buy a pre registered or just a low mileage second hand one.

The 'premium' German marques are have got to the point where their badge prestige is enough to sell to people who don't know any better. The BMW I used to know and love (1990s) has long gone. I switched to Toyota/Lexus and now look down on anything German. Which is ironic as most of them are towering ugly SUVs now.

Previous BMW X3 model engines have defective design that leads to permanent engine failure.I would not rely even on newer BMWs past the warranty period. In the past customers have faced engine issues ranging from timing belt to fuel pump low pressure resulting to engine blow outs. BMW dealers are quoting anything in the range of 15k to 20 k for engine replacement with no major recalls on this issue. There is also a class action suite for these defective engines for which BMW was asked try the courts to compensate the affected customers. Absolutely a lemon of a brand !

Bmw, like other premium brands are too expensive for the value you get. 10-15y ago there was indeed a noticeable quality difference compared to mainstream brands. Nowadays the premium you need to pay is discutabel. So much cheaper platics inside, motoristation is just generic execpt if you go for the unreachable m50i. Same story goes for the mini brand. The f series minis were having really a nice interior with nice materials. The new g series are more expensive for less quality , the material use is even below Toyota level. Oké you get a o-led use less screen . A bit same story with this x3. For thid money goe for the mazda xc60. Better looking much better materials inside and much cheaper.

I had the Ateca FR Sport. Enjoyed it - drove well, good economy, very practical, nice overall finish. The X3 (I have the iX3) is bigger though - copious head room and bit more space in the rear for 3. Build quality of the outgoing X3 is amazing and it has a level of comfort beyond the Ateca. However, I'd definitely consider an Ateca or Cupra over this new X3 - it looks cheap while costing near £70k.

You could slap a Hyundai Logo on this car and wouldn't notice. Cabin looks empty and lifeless just like the design on the outside. Lot of cheap plastics, car looks low-effort overall. Who are they trying to cater to with these big ass screens that are just slapped onto the fittings ? Weird car, the prior model is so much better.

The interior of the new X3 is honestly worse than the VW Tiguan; it's insulting for how much you pay. If I was in the market for a car in this segment I wouldn't bother with anything German and I'd go straight for the new Mazda CX-60; its a much nicer car for the money.

I have the new M50 and it drives better than my 540. Very quick and smooth. Interior is not premium but it's well designed and seats are excellent

7.5 and so many drawbacks. What the hell does a car need to do to be rated below 5. Personally not a fan of the styling or the cost savings on the interior. Seems like the Skoda superb is much better. Bigger boot, more space for passengers, felt lined door bins and better value. Ok it’s a Skoda but it even looks better.

Yea, German Car makers aren't really in the jolly spirit of just offering 3 lines and that's it. They are all setting their minds on "options" - which is bs. It's like counter strike loot boxes. But it's something customers messed up about 10 years ago. Everyone wanted modularity. Individuality, did we forget that already? They finally delivered and now everything you might want costs extra. At least bmw doesn't want you to subscribe to seat-heating on demand services anymore :D If you actively support car manufacturers in their ill ways - like most businesses and businessmen will, they are at fault that it gets blown up.

Everything is cost cutting nowadays. Who asked for not integrated "tom-tom" displays and "pads" in cars? Nobody, they are ugly, they just did it cause it's cheaper. That's the most obvious and there's tons of more. Us Europeans will lose the dominance as luxury car makers because of all this CO2 nonsense and whatnot silliness has followed it. We don't set trends anymore, we follow them however stupid they might be.

Maybe you should go over all the improvements this gen has instead of bashing it for a couple of plastic pieces. I find the exterior good looking not overdone and goofy looking like kia/ Hyundai products. The interior works and the tech is great. The US 2.0 has plenty of power and in the non m version gets great mpg.27/33.
