I'm a flex player, but even I know one-tricks are the least likely to be 'the problem'. They know how to play their heroes in any situation. People just say it's not working when it's a hero thought of as bad. I've had like 20 final blows and 2 deaths on widow, and my team told me widow wasn't working. People are really stupid at all ranks.

That is a different story tho, when a player doesn't matter if it's the tank/dps/support doesn't add any value, they should switch to another hero or even role. But ppl shouldn't automaticly jump the gun in character select screen, who knows maybe it's a good Black Widow/ Fantastic/Jeff/ Raccoon etc. And rather have a Raccoon for example with 1-3 deaths then a Luna/Mantis/C&D that died 9 times +, because they can't hit their stun when they get dived or play way out of position. Or a Widow that actually kills backline then a dps that non stop focuses the tanks or feeds.

I mostly agree, but when it comes to Peni I disagree. She gets rolled by a lot of the meta characters. Strange, Luna completely shut her down. She's easily the worst tank in the game imo

A dps can work in any situation if theyre good enough. A tank is different, because they have to face the enemy team head on and force engagements. A peni that is facing an enemy team that isnt diving them is at a severe disadvantage compared to the shield tanks/groot. She's great when the enemy has to come to you, not when she has to facetank volleys of fire coming straight at her.

One tricks are par for the course on these types of games, you can complain all you want but that'll never change unless the devs do something which they won't. It's stupid to penalize people for playing a game how they want, and it will just cause people to leave the game.

Yeah getting told to swap characters to suddenly stop getting rolled pisses me off more than getting rolled. You are better off just telling me to play better. If I had the ability to play other characters, I would have already done so. You don't suddenly get better by switching to a new character. Especially on tanks yes having a sheild changes the engagement but if you aren't comfortable with it it won't help. That's like telling a moon knight player to pick widow and expecting it to just work because you need to deal with the sniper on the enemy team.

but if you chose to not practice with every single character before joining ranked then it basically is your fault that YOU are only good at one character.. why didn't you choose to be better? I have my mains but I still made sure to get a fundamental understanding of all characters so that I can swap. It really is on you. Why join a boxing tournament if you never bothered learning how to punch and all you ever decided to train was cardio so you can last 100 rounds.. it's literly on you hindering the team. it's a team based game.

If they are a one trick, then it’s worked for them thus far so stop crying. If you lose a game “because” of the one trick, then that’s fine. Do you play well every game? No, I’m sure your the losing factor to plenty of games. But as long as you win more than 50% of your games, then where’s the issue? If a one trick wins more than 50% of their games, then they deserve to climb. You can’t win every game and everyone, even non one tricks, will have limited skill sets that will excel in certain situations and not excel in others.

If you put all the eggs in the basket to be cooked, it becomes real hard to swap it up when you want to make a omelette or mayonaise. It all takes some requires some new eggs if you want to be able to cook. That said I'd rather have the best boiled eggs over a shitty omelette. Doesn't mean you can't learn how to make different things thou. On the other hand, if you already know how to make perfect eggs and now you're starting to sprinkle them with caviar, maybe you've already perfected the craft and you're just doing something completely irresponsible. @ Not really what I'm saying. If you personally don't feel like you stand a shot with Spiderman because the enemy team has a Namor. Then swap away.. I'm a swapper too; but I know it comes from a place of frustration most of the time. But if someone one-tricks Spiderman and wants to continue to one trick them into a Namor and get something like 2-6 off of 8 dives - there can be some value there depending on what they can learn from it. It's likely less frustrating for most to lose the match quickly and move on to the next (hopefully) more winnable match. And finally I just think it's incredibly stupid when someone says one-tricking is bad when half the top 100 are 1 or 1.5 tricks (the .5 being when their character is banned).

One tricks get high rank by being oppressive on maps and match-ups that favor their character, but their win rate is always atrocious otherwise. This is especially true for gimmicky characters like Peni (Symmetra is a comparably gimmicky character in OW). Getting a one trick on your team in a situation where their character isn't ideal feels terrible.

It's pretty simple logic. If I'm equally skilled in 2 characters, and 1 has a toolkit better suited to handle an issue on the enemy team, of course I'm going to play the character that gives me the advantage. And there are absolutely characters in this game that are counters to others. I'm not going to slow bleed out to a spiderman or black panther, be stubborn and never switch and think "just hit more shots". No, I'm just going to switch to Namor and be done with it
