I'm a newbie to livestock work and I've just started working with a cattle breeder myself. Very soon I'm going to be expected to put them through the yard on my own. Thankfully the owner's cattle are very relaxed, but my safety is something I do worry about, so seeing this layout has given me a few ideas to raise with my boss. Would be great if you could devote a video to the requirements needed for weighing and recording of data via apps, 'cos guestimating weights, reading ear-tags and then recording stuff in a notebook is a slow process. Great channel that I'm learning so much from, so thank you Tim for the time and dedication you put into producing these videos.

Best of luck with your yard. I put in a te Pari yard in 2004 it still going strong after nearly 20 years. A lot of stock passed through it. Safe handling facilities are vital for man and beast. Very good investment

Great video Tim, my old wooden yards are 50+ years old. Head bale, no crush. This gives me an idea on what’s coming…Cheers

Tim, this was a great video. My wife and I have a 70 ac property in north Tassie, running beef cattle approx 100 head. This article covered many items and issues I’m looking at addressing in next 12-18 months. Great stuff and look forward to to similar future articles. Cheers Matt

That looks great for small head numbers. An outomated reader and crush gate operation would work better and less staff needed.
