This is Liberace Gay to the nth degree. What kind of man wears diamonds?! Birdman looks absolutely ridiculous with his collection of incredibly gaudy jewelry. I think a lot of jewelers like Jacob & Co, Rafaello etc saw this guy coming from a mile off. If he tried to sell this stuff, he wouldn't get a 10th of what he paid for it. It's so bizarre that a scene such as Hip-Hop prides itself on being street and ghetto yet has such extraordinary camp tendencies. As for Westwood, words fail me. ;-)

Alex J Unless you're in the rap/hiphop game, a casino owner, or a filthy rich athlete, you can't wear this much ice and pull it off. For Birdman, he can pull it off because that's his game, his thing, and people expect it. You can't be a rap artist and not have bling because that's boring and wouldn't live up to the image people expect. But yeah, diamonds aren't really worth much in and of themselves. They're in demand which is the only reason people pay what they do and the reason DeBeers can continue ripping people off. They're real pretty to look at, but they're horrible investments. And most people would never buy any of Birdman's stuff if he tried to liquidate it because most people couldn't wear it without looking absurd. The jewelers would, like you say, only give him a fraction of what he paid for it. And like he says, he's just livin for today, and he has the green, so why not?
