Jason Glover is a genius. Absolutely loving Dustrunner, Tin Helm, and Tin Realm. These are giving me the confidence to go all out and plunk down the serious cash for all the Iron Helm and Quest for the Lost Pixel stuff. I like your playthroughs. Your enthusiasm is great.

Agreed. I love every game I’ve played that he’s designed. I can’t recommend Iron Helm enough. It’s my favorite Grey Gnomes game by far. I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos and I appreciate the positive feedback! 🎲🗡🛡

32:52 - You could've eat the food for 1 energy and attack for 3 energy and 8 damage. Either way you managed to kill the Skellepede so it's all good. The Shrine clutch was amazing. I just wonder how much more games will take you to learn to always turn/skip the Stash (Rats, 0 trap, Altar, Shard) and the Sanctum (Possessor Fight so guaranteed Shard if you get a fight, which is a solid chance in general) and never turn/skip the Chasm (terrible outcomes including potential double fight). The Clearing is also a great candidate to turn/skip. It's true not knowing the cards and not counting what is left in the deck is more random, luck based and exciting, but when you learn/remember the cards the games become more tactical and reliable - the control is more in your hands and your informed decisions, so naturally your win ratio is skyrocketing (I rarely lose anymore). Either way the game is awesome. Can't wait for Tin Realm. Keep the videos rolling - your playthroughs are fun.

I appreciate the feedback! I’ve been playing Tin Helm intentionally without memorizing the cards because I want that exciting type of gameplay you mentioned. I have inevitably picked up on some things so far, the main one being that The Stash has Dark Rats, 0 trap, and a shard. In my latest playthrough I skip the stash for that very reason. I intend to learn the cards and move toward a more strategic style of play. I wanted to keep my early games more mysterious to enjoy that aspect of the game. I’m not in a try hard mode to win at all costs…at least not yet. 😆 I appreciate the tips, though! I’m sure I’ll incorporate those in the near future. That Shrine, though!!! 🥳🎲🗡🛡

To be fair there is still some excitement even with remembering and counting cards. For example earlier today I played few games. Got my first Shard very late on Level 3 (the previous run I got lucky with 2 Shards at Level 1 haha). So at the end of Level 4 still having just 1 shard I got Quarters (Fight and Treasure icons) and Sanctum (Possessor) and Stash (Shard in the Treasure) were incoming (were not drawn yet) so it was 66% chance (2 of 3 incoming cards) for a Shard (either fighting the Possessor or finding Shard in the Stash). However the next card was different so I hit that 33% chance to fail AND having Sanctum and Stash as the last combo means no real gain (either a Mimic or Dark Rats so at least 1 food but damn). And crazy enough at the end of Level 5 got exactly the same combo - Quarters (Fight and Treasure) and Sanctum (Possessor) and Stash (Shard in the Stash) were incoming (not yet drawn), but this time I got lucky (its 66% chance after all) by getting the Stash and the last Shard this time (I was in a good shape to kill the Possessor if it was the Sanctum). So it was still an exciting clutch regardless of my knowledge.

Terrific playthrough! I've only got the PnP version so don't have the 'promo' cards but looking at the Orc with his high health stats but poor hitting numbers to energy spent, I'm thinking you have to take the risk of using just 1 energy on the first one or two levels & hope you roll well and the enemy doesn't! This would help preserve some energy for the tougher fights maybe. I understand J Glover is releasing an expansion pack shortly called 'Gnome Pack' that includes all the promo cards plus new content for Desolate, DustRunner, Gate & Iron Helm(which includes a new character creation system based on Tin Helm). I understand it will be released for PnP at some later stage so I'll just have to wait and see when that will be. Keep the Tin Helm & Iron Helm playthroughs coming... Please!

Thanks so much, Donny! I like those strats for the Orc; good thinking! I’ve already preordered the Gnome pack and can’t wait to get it. Super excited for all of that new content! I’m a huge fan of Jason and his amazing games. More Iron Helm and Tin Helm on the way! In the meantime, feel free to check out my other Iron Helm and Tin Helm videos. I have quite a few so far. Thanks again! 🎲🗡🛡

Spoiler Alert That shrine was so clutch! What a brutal run. I thought you were screwed for sure. Picturing the half-ork punching out dark rats is too funny.

I believe you should discard 2 random dungeon cards on every level.

How come? I didn’t see anything mentioned in the rules about this. Do you have a source you could share that mentions this? Thanks!

@@Game-Knight I have played this game yesterday and my boardgame brother used this rule, guess I have to ask him if it is correct.

@@Game-Knight Read the "Exploration" rules, it is stated that you should encounter 6 rooms, so it is 12 cards, the extra 2 cards are promo cards and were included in Dustrunner game, so I assume, you are not in possesion of that title.

I do own Dustrunner. I have some playthrough videos on my channel if you’d like to check that out. I have the two promo cards. I think the rulebook states there are 6 rooms because the game comes with 12 dungeon cards. It doesn’t explicitly say anything about removing cards if you use the promo cards. I think either way is fine.

I think it comes down to how you prefer to use the promo cards. Using all 14 cards on each floor adds a little variety to the base game and extends the run time slightly with an extra room per floor. Shuffling all 14 and discarding 2 at random each time you build the dungeon deck impacts decision making more as you play more games and learn what's on the back of each card, making runs feel more varied. @@Game-Knight

Which sleeves do you use for this game and does it fit back in the tin?

I use the mini sleeves from The Game Crafter website. The cards fit in the tin with sleeves.
