+POTTERHEAD There's a lot of reasons, but it wasn't their decision, it's the distributors and the producers. To start, while Tina and Amy do really well for themselves, their projects are never really guaranteed to get #1 ratings because the power of word of mouth is so big with comedy (many people will see commercials and either think it's stupid/not funny or not worth spending money on immediately, but when they hear from a friend that it was great, they'll go see it - same with their TV shows, people started watching after a few seasons and it was established but never really when their aired, because it's not a drama with cliffhangers and a continuing story line). Opening on a weekend where there is no chance of getting #1 and no one expects it takes away that pressure. Also, it does provide an alternate movie to see that has a real chance of being good - that way more people might see it that weekend who wouldn't otherwise because they're being dragged to the theater but don't want to see star wars, they think it will be less crowded and want to take advantage of that, they're already at the theaters so they might as well see it also, etc.

To me, it seems like Ellen is being a little 'off' with Tina. Tina comes across the way she usually does in interviews but there's definitely something weird about Ellen here, she's done interviews with Tina before and was much nicer, she comes across as completely uninterested in what Tina is saying, she comes across as a bit rude towards her tbh and it's a bit weird because, like you said, that's not usual from Ellen. It bums me out a bit tbh, hopefully she was just having an off day.

Tina comes off very likable and answers all of the questions with a funny story or joke (as per usual - she's hilarious) and Ellen seems as if she couldn't care less... I hope that's not what it is, Ellen is funny enough to hold her own with other funny people and she's never been this way with Tina before, she's had her on her show a bunch of times but this is the first time I've noticed Ellen being a bit 'off' with Tina. Hopefully she was just having an off day, she has said a couple of times that she really likes and admires Tina so I don't think she dislikes her.
