Good for you, Tina! In some areas, have seen women parenting in their 20's who live and act like they are pensioners in their last days- drinking, smoking, tired, dismissive of their children's needs. . They cannot wait for their kids to be off their hands. You have chosen and fought for this, you have back up (which I doubt you will need!) and our love! xxx

If you are healthy and able to look after a child given the likelihood of any disability that it may happen, regardless of age or wether your in a relationship or not. Then it’s a woman’s right to have a child. People don’t have the right to tell you how to live your life.

I’m 51 (but I don’t as old as these women) I’m just wondering if they are really older than they say? I’m pregnancy has been awesome so far and no issues with IVF. I’m now 36 weeks! Hopefully ( knock on wood ) it continues to be awesome

I'm 38 hopefully I can still conceive but I just broke up with my ex and my partners and I were religiously using birth control. Not to mention I had psychological trauma recently. I pray to God I still have a chance to spread my beautiful and unique genes!

God bless you dear! I've got pregnant at 58. I used donor eggs. My DH and I underwent de ivf in European clinic. My DH was 63 at that time. We had great fear that procedure will be unsuccessful because of our age. But thank God everything went well! We are so grateful to our doctors, they know their job well! I gave birth to two girls) I'm happy mom for 3 years already! And I can't tell in words how happy I am)

I think the NHS shouldn't offer ivf to women over 42 , it's too risky for the mother and the baby , it's not discrimination

I have also heard about such an incredible case. Of course, such case caused a number of views. And opinions divided. There are so many articles and stories can be found about 50-60 aged women. Such as story of the clinic in Ukraine. With help of which woman in years became pregnant. Therefore Ukraine actively conducts IVF with donor eggs for women from all over the world. And of any age. Like 60 year-old woman has become pregnant using in-vitro fertilization method there. And after the first attempt woman gave birth of healthy girl. Doctors are of the opinion that if woman is in good physical condition and has positive health indicators, she has a right to become a mother at the age she wants. That clinic known as leaders in the field of reproductive medicine. And I think it isn’t the only incredible case in there. To my mind all women can take an advantage. And good luck to them and doctors who helped.

People in the comments seem to think this woman is being told she shouldn't have a child, but that's not my understanding. The actual question being asked is whether IVF for older women should be funded by the NHS (universal healthcare, AKA taxpayer funded) when the chances of success are so low? This is a fair question to ask given that these ivf cycles cost thousands of dollars, and have very little success (few live births, and a risky pregnancy when it is successful). Would this be a responsible use of taxpayer dollars?

I don’t think women over 40 should be offered IVF on the NHS dime. If these women really wanted kids, why not have them earlier in life, when their eggs were younger and more viable, and the chance of a live birth from these eggs is wayyy higher? The whole point of IVF is to help women who are young and struggling with fertility issues have biological children, not women over 40 who have missed their fertility window so they could chase a career, or because they didn’t find a suitable partner until later in life. IVF using your own eggs over 40 has a very low chance of a live birth, not fair to expect the NHS to pay for this. As women we have to accept that we have a shorter fertility window than men

That's a cruel thing to say. What if YOU we're in that situation, how would YOU feel??! Or your loved one??! You should think before saying things and it's like you're encouraging women to have children with abusive or bad men just to have a baby, that's not right. I do agree with you that there is a time for everything though. My dad was wrong in saying that money was more important or affording things, but seriously, life's already unfair, why make things MORE unfair. Lastly, my aunt had twin boy and girl using her own eggs at 49 with her second husband back in 2012. It is really none of your business to tell people what to do with their life.!

I've been with this woman for 4 years and she insisted we go the natural way, she gave birth to our daughter in 2020 and I'm proud of her.

I don’t see the point of late motherhood. I think child will feel uncomfortable and everyone will call his mum his grandma. In addition, old woman won’t be able to raise the child properly. Usually after fifty the health condition is not as strong as it used to be. I believe suppose to be a right time for everything. there is a right time to become mother and it is not a fifty years old. I’am also chocked that fertility canter hasn’t paid attention to the age factor of an intended mother. It seems to me it’s a bad tendency to allow so aged women to have babies. Such women have a poor health. Wonder how they can bear a child normally. I heard about clinics in Europe , where are no age limit for patients. Especially about Ukrainian medicine centre. Where they actively conducts IVF with donor eggs for women of any age. That I wasn’t shocked, what else to expect from a third world country. I always wonder why these women lengthen out with child’s birth. And only being over forty five they start thinking about it.
