MTV in the 80s played this song over and over again and nobody got tired of it. Long live Tina. RIP beautiful.
That chorus is truly one of the most memorable and classic pop melodies of all time. Really such a defining sound, the quintessential 80s big chorus sections. It's often used as a cliché, but in this case it is true: tracks like this are truly legendary. The REALLY wild part is, this was almost 40 years ago. Time flies. RIP

The song of a broken woman putting herself back together piece by piece, because her greatest love was her greatest pain. Hearing this song as a child in the 80's I couldn't understand the words, but I still loved the song anyway....might have had something to do with Anna Mae's incredibly powerful and unique voice. When I saw the movie as an adult, then I understood, and I cried for this woman, but we are all blessed because there will never be another like her.
@deshaunx7763 жыл бұрын
This song is about a person only wanting a physical relationship without the complications of calling it love. I’ve always liked it, but never really understood it until adulthood. Sex isn’t always “making love”. Sometimes it’s just sex.
@Liberty4All1003 жыл бұрын
@@deshaunx776 I disagree. It's about a woman who gave her whole heart to her first true love. She was then used, abused, beaten and bloodied by that same true love, over the course of dedcades. She was a legend and the song, too, but the victim narrative is so tired. She a strong woman that would kick most men's butt. Ain't no way she was being abused one-sided. Sounds like a good narrative to sell music and crap on black men. We now know women are more domestically abusive, physically & psychologically.🙏

I am beginning to understand that lust is not love and then constantly hurting a person it's not love. Love is within the heart. Because of how my life has been, I begin to understand the true love is when somebody loves you and care about you they look after you, they have your back, they can talk to you, you can talk to them, and learning to understand each other. Hollering and bickering and walking away and looking somewhere else. That's self love You can walk away in the midst of it and come back together and get an understanding. You want to have peace, love and joy. all of that is combined together. I'm 70 years old and been through a lot thinking that was love, when it was lust. 1 When a person wants something from you, 2 2playing a game trying to hurt you that's not love or 3manipulation that is not love. It's better when you love somebody and they love you back For me, that's part of what love is. I can be forever on here talking about what love is and what it what does love have to do with it? Everything. Nothing like learning to Loving your self first ❤️❤️
