Fortunately enough Tinashe doesn't drop with the purpose of charting or having the next big hit. I think Getting No Sleep was the perfect choice for the 2nd single and most of this album reminds me of her mixtapes Black Water, Reverie and Nightride. She was in her bag with this one

thank you for reviewing!! if you are familiar with her early work (mixtapes) as well as nightride, this album it's very reminiscent of that - melodic, ethereal, vibey etc. she definitely has bangers or songs that are more commercial sounding (it would probably be no broke boys here) - but the rest is more true to her art form, which is why og stans like myself connected with it instantly😍

I think people coming onto tinashe from Nasty are expecting more commercial sounding stuff which really isn't her bag. This is reminiscent of her old mixtapes but elevated. If u take it as a part 2 - it's a really vibey, stripped back second chapter moving on from bb/ang3l. IMO. No to a Normani feature. She needs to figure her own career out at this point.

Judging by your reaction it makes perfect sense that she released Getting no sleep as the second single. If she did No broke boys, people that are paying attention to Tinashe is gonna assume that every other song of the album is going to sound just like NBB and Nasty. Y’all are worried about what the GP will like instead of just liking the songs for yourself. Why should she have to sacrifice her authenticity for people who were never supporting her in the first place.
