Sensei, thank you for all of your excellent instruction on tinbe and rochin! I’m very curious about one thing sir, why would a combatant, under combat adrenaline dump, consider performing such an ultra fine motor skill of flipping the rochin? It seems the chances of dropping it from not having a firm grip during combat due to sweat, blood, etc. is high. Was this form developed for combat or tournament? I’ve seen on KZbin Mayatoshi no tinbe and Tokushin no tinbe and there is no flipping of the rochin. Regardless, Kanagawa no tinbe is a beautiful kata, and your performance of the kata is inspiring!

I've seeing Matayoshi's Kobudo video with Tinbe and Dao (chinese sword) performing a kata. Was that the sword used in Okinawa?

This is Ryukyu Kobudo aka Okinawa Kobudo. Mine is about 45cm. It's very difficult to get one but you can buy it on the internet.

@@KohjiKatoh I noticed some kobudo practioners use the timbei straped around the forearms instead of just holding it with a handle as you do. Is this a matter of preference or it reflects different styles?
