The Philippine dance ‘Tinikling’ imitates the movement of the local Tikling birds as they skillfully dodge bamboo traps set by rice farmers.
This cultural dance is still performed today in its original form, just as we will be doing tonight; however, today’s youth are finding ways to modernize this dance and add their own creative flair, but still pay homage to their ancestors. This is mostly done by adapting the movement to a four-beat rhythm to adjust to popular music.
