This guy is definitely a tradesman/machinist/engineer. This goes beyond maintenance and if a guy like him was on every street corner the retail business would suffer.

I love how one clip there's sparrows talking and a second later there's crickets chirping. Nice video, helps theory crafting port numbers for novice porters. Keep up the good work.

I have finally caught up on your Echo 670 "How to port" series and its great general knowlege. But the CS-590 is how I found your channel. Have had one of these since early June that I bought to help our local scout camp cleanup after a major windstorm. I really like the saw and plan to build mine right along with you. Just hope I have better uses than more storm cleanup in the future!!!

Nice video. Echo saws aren’t overly popular, so it’s nice to see one being worked over. Time for the underdog to show its stuff in price to performance ratio.

A very good video. And I will add I checked the cylinder mounting bolts and the front right side was loose. However you did not mention how loud the saw was after the muffler mod. I drilled two 3/8ths holes in mine at the same spot as you and yes this made it louder. Other wise it is still stock. When it cools down outside I will let is stretch it's legs.

I was hoping this teardown would show how to teardown this saw. I have to teardown my CS590 because the top hose on the carb needs to be connected to the barb fitting inside the case, but it can only be reached if I completely disassemble my saw.

I would think 104 will be nice and torquey for a long bar. 102 would also work i would imagine if ya can keep the compression. I would think this would be quite the saw with a pop-up. I wonder if theres much to gain widening that exhaust port, after all you will have good blowdown. But it also seems a little narrow and the less pressure in the cylinder when your transfers open the better. Definitely don't think it would hurt. I'm excited to see how the build turns out. Also those are some unique looking transfers, it will be cool to see what you do with those.

I can't seem to get the rubber air intake that's connected to the engine to release from the carb area. Looks like it's press fit in a round hole. I took the limiter screw out that you mentioned, this rubber piece is all I need to remove the engine from the body. Nvm, got it. A small metal round piece holds it in from the carb side.

Looking great dude!!! Absolutely love your new camera setup! Looking very much more professional and shop like with your chosen setup and background... “straight from Borat...”Very Nice!!!” LMFFAO!!! The 590’s for a new 60cc firewood or work saw at $499 and the 620P at $550... What you have in front of you now... because it’s not a 590 with the coil and carburetor additions ... it’s really up to the 620P after you raise the exhaust roof... those parts and a little higher exhaust roof to increase their RPM and run more “professionally”... are the main difference’s in the two saw’s... echo basically added more timing to retard the 590’s performance... like Husqvarna added the baffling on the 365 xtorq to restrict some performance and still be able to use the same parts across the two models...which is great for a guy who has a little bit of confidence and who will grind his new cylinder. The timing wheel is just critical for a guy to get comfortable with so he’s comfortable with knowing how his engine is working and can change it for the better. I highly recommend that guys also do the little bit of additional work and actually use a port mapping page and draw out the numbers or transfer their numbers onto a port mapping page.., so that they can visually see how their particular engine is working. Kensie From Bayou County PowerSaw’s has a good video showing his port mapping pages.., it really helps me to actually do the paper 3D to 2D visual reference so I can see where my upper transfers are actually fitting into my stroke... helps to see how to balance my stroke. As you can actually count the difference between the “events” and see the timing on paper... and it’s not just a mental process and metal figuring... it’s visually right out there in front of you... I was trying to add it here but I can’t insert a picture...? I have it if you want it.,,if you send your email...? 👍😁. Love what you are doing to help teach everyone saw building and it’s such a great video reference... I can send someone with a question over to see a great how to video...that you have made! It’s definitely handy for a lazy guy!!! LMFFAO!!! Love ya man! Keep up the great work... Harvey broke the ice and paved the way with the actual sharing of the numbers and took lots of flack... but Kensie from Bayou County backed him up and old Hopper did too!!! It was Buckin Billy Ray’s work and pushing to try and get this information out on KZbin to get guys the real information. Now the guys have you have you!!! .... and you have really made a difference!!! Your videos are put together wonderfully as a teaching tool. “ You make the videos that you wanted to see or how you would and could actually learn from...” this is just wonderful content for young guys wanting to learn porting and experienced guys to get a reference for the saw’s that you have done on video... I loved how excited old Harvey was when he was saying get over to this guy “TinMan’s” channel... he’s actually made a cutaway saw so a guy can actually see how those transfer ports actually work in a chainsaw engine!!! It’s really great how you guys are really sharing and teaching guys the real deal and getting the real meat and potato’s of saw building out there!!!! It’s definitely been great to watch how much the available information has increased over these past 10-12 years. Absolutely love your channel, buddy!!! I’m going to enjoy watching your channel grow up to the 100k subs group of channel’s... just keep doing what you’re doing and more and more people will continue to find your wonderfully informative channel!

Tinman wondering have you ever been into a 2083 turbo jonsered.. that is my all around magic stick I owned two in past ported quiet a few for customers after lending them my personal one to use while I repaired there saw . Every one I trusted enough to let them take mine owns a 2071 threw 2088 now.. I try and buy every one I find and good luck finding a bar cover for one in one piece lol. Tbt the port timing is great stock they also are a pioneer brand saw ;a beast in the cut ... I like your channel I been a buckin sub for about 3 yrs now . I been porting saws and fixing for certain people for years only ..most my saw running is firewood these days. I have lay down some wood in Florida especially after hurricanes . And a bunch of home wreckers. Keep your peepers open for a 2071threw 2088 if you ever find any and don't pick for yourself keep me in mind there very hard to find here in maine

Watched hoping to get the skinny on how to separate the tank and "block" sections. I'm trapped by the springy thingy on the bottom of the saw. Must that spring be removed from the boss that it's on? Does it have a screw holding it on? How to get it out of the way so I can get that pin out of the socket opposite of it?
@MrRmh34812 жыл бұрын
Use a thin brown paper gasket with loctite 515 for your cyl gasket. Equalize your transfers and aim them up the back wall. Widen the exhaust. Use the 620 carb and the 600p ignition coil has the best advance curve.

Hello Tin, Hope you're the right guy to answer my question. I'm relatively new to doing own repair on chainsaws. I have this cs-590 and simply wanting to replace the old cylinder with a new one that I just got. Is this a pretty straightforward procedure of only taking out old cylinder and popping in the new one or I'd have to figure the math behind the timing as you would when porting? I'm again, only replacing old with new. Many thanks! :)
@tinmanssaws Жыл бұрын
Morning, just pop off the old cylinder and piston and install the new one and your good to go.
@mercoldswfo2 жыл бұрын
I wonder what the squish would be if it were to be checked in line with the wrist pin. I’ve always heard that checking squish anywhere else can cause the rocking of the piston at tdc to throw the readings off. Not sure how much truth to this there is. May be a neat video idear.
@tinmanssaws2 жыл бұрын
I hear that to. If the piston is rocking that bad fore and aft then I'd be inclined to say the piston is warn out.
@Swamp-Fox2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the newbie question, but is that solder that you are using to test the squish?
@blackdawg44072 жыл бұрын
Good question. I recommend visiting the channel and got to "Playlists" and watch the How to Port a Chainsaw series. Very good videos even using a cutaway saw to show 2 stoke operation.

There is too much springy over travel on them A V springs and that long screw goes in a big hole to limit it. I have filled mine, there's one front bottom across from the AV spring with a plastic nub in a big hole. I make silicone bushings for mine because I don't like the over travel .
