My 2 cents, The cranks are balanced. The lighter the piston, the less mass you have acting against this balanced crank. It will never be perfectly opposing forces since it's only a 1 cylinder engine

Hi Tinman, I have built a few pipes like that and they work! They really move air. I can feel puff's of air 20 feet away with a ported saw build. The length and diameter of the head pipe seems to affect where the saw makes the best power. Usually a longer head pipe before a tight bend produces a broader torque curve in my experience. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I have learned a lot here!

I watched you give Hogan's saw a last test and you said you were sending it. Good job. Next thing I see as I was scrolling, is Buckin' opening the box and putting the saw to the wood👍. Wish I had the pipe of yours that he took off.

Morning Tinman, just finished my first saw rebuild last week on a stihl 039, really enjoyed working on the wee saw, I want to say thanks for all the great info you share and the inspiration you have gave me. I have got a 2nd saw now to work on from a friend, a Husqvarna L65 from the 1970's I think.. Keep bring that awesome content. Big Love From Ireland.

The pipe looks and sounds wicked! Nice work Tinman. I noticed at 18:04 and 18:05 looks like something metalic flying out the pipe. Possibly slag? Hopefully nothing from the inside the engine! Play back at .25 speed you'll clearly see them, the bigger piece went forward of the pipe
@wayneanderson991 Жыл бұрын
I saw that too. Hope everything went out the exhaust.

Cutting and welding puts a ton of bad metal fines inside a muffler. I tumble mine after. Especially if a guy is using something like a dremel cut off or drilling for a second opening they get really nasty inside. Haven’t seen anyone talk about it but I definitely tumble mine in stainless pins before putting them on. Just have to make sure to get all the pins out but they are large enough to hear rattle 👍🏼

Makes total sense to me . More power on the down stroke and more compression on the up stroke should offset the lighter piston weight I would think.(?) Awesome pipe for the 288 btw 👍😎

That's a really great looking pipe. I'm wondering if anyone has asked you to make one for a Husqvarna 572 and / or a Husqvarna 585/592 as the latter two are pretty much the same.

Hey Tinman let me get you opinion on some timing numbers. I have a g660 pro clone that I'm porting it runs good but I could tell someone was off stock with base gasket 0.048 squish exhaust opens at 93° transfers 120° intake 82° so duration EX 174 IN 164° to me 93 is way too high on the exhaust roof?

lightened flywheel an crank will reduce torque output, i believe it would also make the saw bog down more as the mass of those spinning helps keep the chain moving
