You are so right. Being kind to yourself and surrounding yourself with positive people and energy helps. Stress is such a factor. I tried masking hearing aid in the affected ear but it is not cheap. Eliminate stress and don't be afraid of tinnitus..there are ways to cope to the point it will go. Our bodies tell us in ways that you are ignoring problems that aren't being addressed. It's a very strange annoying thing to experience. Mine is not consistently the same and at times isn't noticeable. Other times it's so present that I find it hard to focus. I believe it will go away eventually.

I have been tormented with very high pitch tinnitus for over 6 years, it's definitely not something I've ever gotten used to. I can't afford several thousand dollars for hearing aids. Living paycheck to paycheck. It really sucks dealing with this, and having no hope. Even if they find a true cure, I'd never be able to afford it. @@jasonedenfield7189 I have tinnitus, really bad, and it got permanently worse after my first covid vax, (ended up getting covid anyway go figure) and yes, you can get used to it.. I have 2 stents in my heart, 2 excruciating back surgeries, I know pain and suffering, you just have to get over it. Yes I know how that sounds but ya know what, that's what it takes. Here's how.. it's just a noise in your head, so what! Yes if you are weak and don't know what real pain is, then you can't handle it and kill yourself.. I know there are reasons one might want or need to end it all, but you are way stronger than you know, you just have to realize it's just a sound, yes annoying, but it doesn't physically hurt, you don't have a hot poker in your eye.. yes it's 24/7.. so what? There are lots of people with ailments that are permanent, it's life. Just know that once you stop freaking out about it and accept it, it's just a freaking noise in your head.. as I type this my head is ringing full on crazy, ya know what, I don't care anymore. It doesn't matter, carry on. I've been a union carpenter for 30 years, lots of loud noise, (among other insanity most people not in construction could even imagine) I also played guitar in bands my whole life. My dad lived through world war 2 in the navy airborn, I'm sure his ears were ringing too, but never heard him complain about anything. The ringing in my head is now like my friend, I think if it stopped ringing it would scare me more. Most people think it's their ears ringing, it's actually in your brain, the noise floor has been raised and will never go back so don't believe anyone who says they have a cure, they may figure something out one day, but it ain't here yet. All true, so there, stop worrying about it, nothing you can do, trust me learn to like it or be a pussy. (I never said I was a great public speaker).

I have had tinnitus for about a decade and it never goes away. I have a baseline and things like anxiety and sugar and salt spike me. So does any kind of emotional stress or anger. Then it screams in my ears. Enjoy a little ice cream once in a while and you pay the price. Eat something salty and you pay the price. Cry over a friend who passes, you pay. If you can habituate you are lucky.

@DavidDeWittStudio2 жыл бұрын
@@Sound_Relief_Tinnitus_Hearing It’s almost impossible to eliminate sugar and salt and as far as your emotions go, I distract myself with my artwork. I have been in the film business and my daughter is a professional film editor in New York. So I like to travel, stay active and think about things outside of myself which helps to maintain my baseline. I write, and that lowers my awareness of the noises in both ears. Driving helps. I wear a hearing aid that helps me hear better but basically does nothing for my tinnitus.

Beth, I'd love to chat with you if you'd be so kind. I've had tinnitus for over 40 years. I got when I was 18 and I am now 64. At times it has been unbearable. I also have neck issues which are giving me muscle tension headaches. As I am POSITIVE you can imagine the headaches make the tinnitus worse (probably from the stress) which then makes the headache worse. The viscous cycle is just debilitating. I finally decided to retire from work at the beginning of the year. Sadly I didn't make that because I was just unable to concentrate enough to think. My Dr. had me work on a reduced schedule but even that I couldn't do. Also, as I'm sure you understand, I have bad days and WORSE days. On the bad days, I can mostly function. On the worse days I just go through the motions of being alive until it's time for bed. Then I hope that I can get up in the morning and at least just be in bad shape and not horrible.

It's been over 3 years.. how is Beth doing? I've had a little tinnitus off and on over my 45 years but about 6 months ago it kicked in full time and fairly loud and consistent, a very high frequency.. I've got perfect pitch and it sounds like a very high "A".. and in both ears, coming from the center of my head. I went to an audiologist locally here in Eugene Oregon and was told my hearing was good and on par for my age which was nice to hear(no pun intended)... but they only gave me ideas for masking the sound like an android app that distracts the noise. Even though the sound is annoying and loud if it's quiet it hasn't ruined my life yet.. I'd only be very depressed if I knew it was here to stay.. which it's starting to feel like. Anyway.. again how are people doing with the treatment? Is there any statistic for this soundrelief treatment?

Like many patients, Beth was unaware of any hearing difficulties other than constant tinnitus when she came to see us. Many patients we see with mild high-frequency hearing loss and tinnitus benefit from low level amplification plus prescriptive sound therapy as a part of Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT). Sound therapy can be built into modern hearing devices today, which use a calming background sound (i.e., ocean waves) to distract the brain away from the tinnitus and calm the nervous system. Masking the tinnitus with a louder sound than the tinnitus (i.e., white noise) becomes annoying, over-activates the nervous system, and results in needing louder and louder levels of masking over time to cover-up the problem. Masking is a band-aid approach that is ineffective for long-term benefit for most patients. Replacing missing input to the brain due to mild hearing loss, and calming the nervous system down from its hyperactivity in searching for this missing input, are key to successfully treating tinnitus.
