A mate of mine has a big strip of black poly garden edge riveted around the front deck because he was tired of licking pliers and lipgrips over the front. It also catches a lot of wind and water whipping up over the front of the boat that you would otherwise catch in the face. Also costs next to nothing. Couple rivets, some silicone and the garden edging is all you need each time you need to replace it and he seems to get about 2 years out of it.

Great to watch. One thing i have done differently is close up that gap between the floor and the rear seat. That gap for us always had stuff falling under the seat. We added a little panel down to the floor on the front side of the seat, allowing a small gap so water can easily flow thru, from the floor, but not knives, sinkers etc.

Great build video, some great ideas. I did a similar build last year but used 5083 grade 3mm Al plate for the floor, then covered it in 5mm Ultralon Z-tread, Al angle/RHS for deck frame. No wood, no dirty/wet/mouldy carpet. I did the stats and it worked out to be a similar weight to ply and a much more durable option, and not a heap more expensive. Let me know if you want some details/pics for your next build. Also curious to know if your gutter system works to keeps the hatches dry? Keep the vids coming, you're living the dream!

Hey mate. You definitely need to seal the edges with sika, I’ve had issues where the parts I didn’t seal were shrinking and the glue separated from the foam. The edges that were sealed with sika have held tight. It was about 6 months to see the issues. The product is fine otherwise but needs the edge sealing.

Nice build - I went looking for pictures from my similar tinny build 15 years ago, but I seem to have lost them! (Have to build another one...) I wonder how those compression locks will hold up to salt water? They might last better sprayed with a coating every now and then (Lanox or similar). Love the channels - and I'd love to hear how effective they are at keeping the water out. That's always been the biggest challenge I've found with hatches made of plywood. Michael
