I love watching your channel. I now call Cecilia, Kentucky my home as I have lived here 35-40 years. I was born and raised in White Pine, Tennessee, about 10 miles from Dandridge. White Pine is in the same county as Dandridge, Jefferson County. An old school teacher friend of mine, she was like a second mamma to me and I loved her dearly, lived on the lake, Douglas Lake, with her husband. She had a sister and he had a sister that lived with them. The sisters were elderly, but got up 3 times a week and started baking homemade pies at 3 AM for Tinsley Bible Drug Store. They would take at least a dozen each time to Tinsley Bible Drug Store. The pie was sold by the slice at the soda fountain. These women did this for years and years and years until they died. Not sure if Tinsley Bible quit selling pie by the slice or turned to store bought pies. Whenever I went back home to see family, I always stopped to see my friend and she always had a box of stuff gathered up to take home with me. One of the items was a 10 1/2" glass pie plate which was one of several used to bake pies for Tinsley Bible Drugs for years. It has their last name "Felknor" engraved on the bottom with one of those electric engravers that was so popular back then. I still use this to make cherry pies in and can't help but wonder how many trips in and out of the drug store this pie plate has made. The ladies would put 4 pied in the oven and rotate them half way through baking. Amazing how much history and meaning something as simple as a pie plate can have.

Most beautiful sight I've seen since visiting our own little small town drugstore here in upstate South Carolina in Slater-Marietta. The Slater-Marietta Drugstore. While it does not serve burgers and shakes it is the essence of what a true small town Drugstore represented before all of the big chains. Never crowded and never over priced.
