Is this comment limited to this mattress or things in general? If so, reviews are doomed. If they like the product, you'd say that are paid to say that. And if they hate it, they must be genuine. In contrast. There are some things I've purchased that are brilliant. And others rubbish. The Sleeping Duck. Customer service was exceptional. The product was uncomfortable for me. My wife thought it was OK. Wenetex: The mattress I purchased ~15 yrs ago was the most comfortable sleep I've ever had. Loved it. Unfortunately, it slowly wore out. I tried to replace it. But their "new improved version" is harder. And I found it uncomfortable. Their customer service was brilliant. They visited my home multiple times to tweak & adjust the bed springs & other components. Threw in a free topper. We came close but still now what I was hoping for. Their quilt is great. So they gave a full refund on the bed & frame. I've kept the quilt. Other things that are brilliant: Techsmith's Snagit (for computer screen capture) Other things that are shit. Dolphin pool cleaners. My X40 died & wasn't replaced "because I left it in the pool too often". the x60 I replaced it with barely touches the wall.

I've just sent for an Emma mattress - as regards dips, I currently have a silent night memory foamed topped interior spring mattress which cost me £1100. Despite turning every few months it has serious dips after a year. This also happened to the mattress it replaced, a Sealy which cost £900. Basically, I'm done with paying for top end mattresses which do not live up to their past reputation; these Brands were good in the past, but it is evident that they have cut corners in production quality

I've been turning my memory foam/pocket spring mattress every two weeks religiously since I got it about fifteen years ago and it's only now that I'm having to replace it (hence my checking this review out!).I'd highly recommend doing this as it helps lessen the very 'dips' featured. Finally after 4 years and 2 Emma mattresses later, they have collected the 2nd one and the manufacturer is in the process of refunding the original cost. The collecting company told me they collect more Emma Mattresses than any other make, so that tells a story. Thanks for the quick response. I am on my 2nd hybrid. I weigh 12st 8 and my wife about 7. My side just sags and has become so soft. I feel I am rolling uphill to get to the other side of the bed. This 2nd mattress they replaced last July has only been in use for 3 months last year and 3 weeks this year as we are not always in the UK. It was great to begin with but now its lost much of its support very quickly. I am not sure these are built to last even if though they give a 10-year warranty. I see that the original is supposed to be firmer, so if they replace again I will be asking for the original. I am not sure that these foam mattresses are not much more than bit of a gimmick that makes high profits. They must take 5 minutes to produce a couple pieces of foam fitted into a zip cover. No quality compared to a more traditional type of mattress thats for sure. With no means of communication except email its not great customer support. At least with a shop you can talk face to face about an issue. Thanks again for your reply. Regards

How has your 2nd mattress been?
@alvor27623 жыл бұрын
@@m4speedway Sorry to say I do not rate this mattress very highly as it has exactly the same issue as the 1st mattress. Initially it is very comfortable but after just a few weeks in use there is sagging and a depression on whichever side of the bed I sleep. I weigh twelve and a half stone, so not very heavy yet the mattress becomes deformed quickly. I have turned the mattress around (not over) and within a few days sagging occurs. The result is, if I were to roll to to the opposite side of the mattress then its like rolling uphill and conversely if my wife were to roll onto my side then its like rolling downhill, as she describes it. This mattress does not support properly after a period of use. As far as memory foam is concerned then it has a short memory. I have actually gone to the trouble of placing equal weights on the mattress in the area of where the torso would be and using a level measured the depression from one side to another and clearly the depression is greater on my side by a considerable margin. The lack of support can easily be felt simply by depressing areas of the mattress with your hands and no matter whichever side I sleep on after a very short time the difference in resistance is easily felt. I actually feel as though my torso is lying in a depression which is akin to a hammock. I do not recommend this mattress unless you are very much lighter in weight. The depression in the mattress can also be easily seen when we get out of bed in the morning and the form of the mattress has not recovered by the end of the day.

You need to know the real truth: If you do a bit of research, you will find that nearly all the new names - Emma, Eve, Matt, Simba, ... - in the mattress industry are fast growing tech companies that have no clue how to make quality mattresses, and are just in the business for making quick money. They use foam that no one has ever heard of, and offer only a 'one type fits all' model. How can this be the right mattress for everybody, no matter if you are light or overweight, small or big, have artritis or sweat a lot in bed? With these mattresses, you never find any certificates. They might use synthetic glue (that's why they smell when unpacked), which is not good for dealing with moisture. Are there any toxic products in the mattress? Is it a fire hazard? Since there are no certificates, it's hard to answer these questions. The cover is made of 100% polyester, also useless for dealing with moisture, and can be washed at 40 °C, which will not kill bed bugs (you need 60 °C for that). The way these mattresses are tested is often by repeatedly pressing something mechanically into the mattress and see what the consequences are after a few days. The body temperature and skin moisture of a sleeping person have a big influence on the effects of compression and wear, but these factors are not considered at all in the test. While these mattresses might score very good on durability in the mechanical compression test, it is totally unrealistic in real situations. The only positive thing they have is their price (that is why they often score 'Best Buy' prices). They are so cheap because the quality is so bad. There are already dents (which is destruction of the foam bubbles) in the mattress after 10 months. In five years time this mattress will be damaged severely. To get the mattress in the box for shipping, they are compressed very hard to reduce them in size, and wrapped airtight in plastic to keep them compressed. Most foam mattresses are designed to withstand a person of 120 kg. To get the Emma mattress in the small box, it is compressed by putting a pressure of 150 000 kg (yes, you read that right, one hundred and fifty thousand kg) on it. And it stays wrapped up for weeks. Ask any mattress expert out there what this does to a foam mattress, and they will all agree that this does irreversible and serious damage to the foam. So if you want a good mattress that will last for, and gives you comfort for a decade, be prepared to spend a bit more money on it, and don't buy one that comes in a box. It will do you good in the long run.
@onzy29724 жыл бұрын
Interesting and quite logical! Any brand recommendations?
@Peter-ob1zd4 жыл бұрын
@@onzy2972 The best thing you can do is go to a real shop and test some mattresses out. Everyone is built different, sleeps different and has their own sleeping characteristics. What works good for me might not work for you. If you are looking for cold foam, Ravensberger (German), Royal Health Foam (Dutch) and Tempur (Danish) are reputable brands. Look for a HR (foam density) of 55 or more. Go to at least three different places and try to see through the sales talk they give you. Wear clothes with lines or squares and ask somebody to look if the lines are straight while you're on the bed in your preferred sleeping position(s) , or let someone take a picture so you can see for yourself how much your body is bent or straight. If you have a heavier build, the slats under the mattress also play a role, and can compensate another 10 to 30 % in straightness. Slats have lost their stiffness after about 10 years, an if you are a heavy person, it's best to replace them too after that time. There are many videos on testing mattresses, with plenty of tips and advice. Good luck with finding your best mattress, Onzy.

I bought 2 years ago one for my daughter. She likes the mattrass but when I bought it, I didn't realise that you can't turn it to sleep at the other side. But it is important to turn head to feet regulary. I wash the cover every 3 months on 60 or maybe also a little bit more if she got a bloodstain in the mattrass, I know the advice is 40 but 60 is important to kill dustmites and the cover isn't shrinking. I like my own mattrass much more, but matrasses are a personal thing. I think Emma is indeed very good for 2 people sleeping in one bed because it is indeed not bouncy but still not too firm.

@@m4speedway When I first opened the box, there was a strong smell from the thick outer plastic (PVC, I guess) sheet that protects the bag where the mattress is enclosed. Once I cut the bag open with the provided opener, I've detected a whiff of polyurethane - which reminds me of coffee, for some reason - but not much more than that. Then I removed all the packaging material (and their smells) from the room and left the mattress on top of a duvet cover, on the floor, to get back to shape. We were still sleeping in our old apartment, so I went back to it and the mattress stayed in the new apartment. When we finally moved, three days later, the bedroom where the mattress stayed had no smell of foam or plastic or anything of that sort. Since my first night sleeping on the Emma, I haven't detected any smell at all, even when I sleep on my belly and my face ends up pressed against the mattress. We do use a mattress protector under the bedsheet, but it's a breathable one, so I don't think it would block any smells, if there were any. So... yes, I would label it as "safe for sharp noses". :)

The Simba got a really bad dip either side. They replaced it and same thing again. Got rid of it. We now have the Remfit 600 and it's been amazing. No dips and far more comfortable than Simba. Might be worth trying after the Emma.

If its dipping your Emma has had it. Just had a battle (much more expensive memory foam one) with a mattress maker and retail store and they agreed finally to replace but its taken me 4 months to get to that point on a mattress with a ten year warranty and it coming up 5 y o. Manufacturers have been so slow about it and initially refused to replace but retailer intervened and we got agreement to replace. However we went out and bought a full one layer latex matress (has certification) of our choice. Talk about chalk and cheese. Pain gone. No coughing. Sinus issues resolving.

What it’s like in the summer for heat? I have a memory foam mattress and I hate it because it makes you sweat even though it says it’s a cooling mattress however I am tempted for this Emma but need to know what’s it’s like for keeping you cool?

Interesting. I bought this memory foam mattress after reading all the fantastic reviews. However I sent it back because it was absolutely terrible. Like sleeping on a park bench. I persevered for about 30 days to see if it would improve. It didnt. It felt soft and squidgy with the hand but sleeping on it was sheer hell. I was crippled every morning despite Emma stating you will get the best night's sleep of your life!

Iv really been struggling to choose a mattress for a long time, i know I’m very late to the party. My main problem is I’m heavy 19 stone and most mattresses are only rated to 18 stone. I just wondered do you still have this mattress (4 years on?) is it still alive? 😂 also which emma mattress is it? 🙏

A good video, but getting personal is the memory foam too hot at any time of the year and what weight is the heaviest of you as some videos use 16St7lb is the optimum weight when you move from medium to firm mattress?

What is this mattress like for back pain? My partner suffers with lower back pain so needs added support
@SGFlicksify2 жыл бұрын
I’m assuming this is the MEDIUM mattress? There is also a medium-firm option which is a fair bit more expensive. We’re used to a firm mattress but have been told that as you get older it’s better to avoid them, so maybe worth trying the medium.

Gret video and really useful, thanks. It looks like you've put the Emma mattress on an existing sprung base. Has it been on OK on that? I have the same situation - a base which is 12 years old but fine, and a mattress that's the same age but which needs replacing.

There is some mistake on dates. You have 10 months use on 08/2020 and the label is 11/2019. So, did you start to use before the mattress leave the factory? 🤔
@karenmitting71814 жыл бұрын
Paulo Leite - Actually it’s quite possible. If they received the mattress sometime in Nov, 2019 and have made this video in Aug, 2020 well that’s 10 months. Do the math... 👩🏼🎓👍🏻😊
