A beautiful piece of work Al! Such a level of detail and built-in functionality. Small buildings can have as much work in them as much bigger buildings. The work is in all the corners, joints and making every element fit into it's neighbour, often with no "standard solution" available off the peg. Well done!

If you want things well vented when you cook, then you need to put a vent in the wall above the cooking space/cooktop area! Leaving the front door open is not a practical way to vent cooking fumes.

I use to have a jalousy window above the kitchen stove, and just cranked it open when cooking. Don't need the extra fan exhaust above.

Should have a small sofa bed in the living space, just in case you have a guest sleep over and it's not too clustered...😊 You can use fragrance disposal bags and throw in some dried leaves for each toilet use and dispose it so the toilet will always stay clean ....

I hardly know where to begin this is such an impressive build. Fantastic toilet! Link to the diverter? Your sense of aesthetics is very closely aligned with mine and I especially love the plumbing fittings. And the carpentry treatment under the bed! You've made the mostest from the leastest amount of space.

I do so enjoy your videos. Thank you so much for sharing. I've clocked the brand of the trailer but would you mind sharing more details on the trailer please. It looks to be exactly what I'm after. The four jacks are such a wonderful touch. Many thanks, Hannah
@thewildcroft
@thewildcroft 2 жыл бұрын
It's a Vlemmix tiny house trailer. I tend to use the 6.0m version. This year I'll be using the Plateau model, which means I don't have the wheel arches to deal with, but the trailer is a little higher.

Great tour, thanks Al. Two questions: bimetallic corrosion in the shower area-have you checked that copper plus galv or brass plus galv are ok to touch? The seating boxes that slide in or out-the gap is not quite big enough to permanently fix a upholstered bit of foam (or thin wool stuffed mattress) on it. That would have been useful. Love the hut overall, quality work! 🙂
@thewildcroft
@thewildcroft 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comments! Galv and brass are fine to touch I believe so this shouldn’t be an issue. Good point on the boxes, they weren’t designed for permanent upholstery but it’s something I might suggest to clients in future.

Beautiful how did you create the runners for the seats and the steps the rest I can work out
@thewildcroft
@thewildcroft Жыл бұрын
Two small strips of wood on the floor (20mm wide, 8mm high) and the same on the boxes to fit outside of ones on floor. Boxes also have felt on them so they slide. Floor runners are tapered at the start so the boxes locate into them easily. It works really nicely, as long as you keep the floor swept!

Returning to your site to look again at your careful, plastic free work. Curious to know how the curved roof handles the rain with no gutters. It's looks as though it would roll down the sides of the house./ You don't ship overseas, but would you consider selling plans for the bed/cabinet design? (Copyright it or however it is builders secure their original work of course)
@thewildcroft
@thewildcroft 2 жыл бұрын
Yes I have played with gutters, but the issues is my max width for UK roads is 2.55m. So I cannot add gutters. But it would be a good idea for the client to add them if not moving regularly as the cladding would last longer. I don't have any plans, sorry. I build it differently each time and kinda make it up depending on timber I have etc.

Surely it would be better to tow it from window end then you could build steps up to front door on site.
@thewildcroft
@thewildcroft Жыл бұрын
Yeah it works this way just fine but the other way round gives more options, I’ll be doing it opposite way round next time. It really depends on the site, often it’s only possible to tow in one way so I design for that.

I also do not understand how the pipes do not freeze when the stove isn't monitored. Does the insulation and copper pipe prove adequate? This is not an idle question.
@thewildcroft
@thewildcroft 2 жыл бұрын
Yes the copper pipe being inside does not need to be insulated. Any pipe underneath or within the frame would be insulated. If you left the home for weeks unheated in winter it would be wise to drain the plumbing just in case.

some nice touches there, I'm surprised though that no one seems to put any high level ventilation in so you don't have to rely so much on opening windows, especially when used in Scotland with the lovely midges to contend with, my background is in the boating world and mushroom vents in the roof are common

I like the shelf under the window. I can see a kitty sitting on that window shelf. Lots of good company. I do prefer board and batten to shiplap though, I think it looks more expensive. And off it goes!
@thewildcroft
@thewildcroft 2 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean about board and batten - has a certain appeal. Shiplap is better as its thinner overall (one layer rather than two) and that actually makes a critical difference with roof overhangs, as I'm limited by legal width limits for towing on the road.
