As someone who has a lot of plants and have tried diffrent kind of wood and other materials as support, it will rot and mold. Quite quick to sadly, if not treated with something. And as a crafty person to, its not the easiest to find fish safe paint/varnish, in Sweden at least.

Can't you coat it with a gloss that would prevent that from happening? Like a layer or resin to keep things dry (idk if it's aquarium safe tho)

@@wilfredomanuel3470 you could, but yes you'd have to find aquarium safe resin which is pricy and hard to find. Ultimately, this kind of set up, while nice, is not meant for a long term aquarium.
