Watched before a few months ago but enjoyed seeing the fact you took a 1971 houseboat and renovated it to your needs and comfort were simply charming and pleasing... We took a $200.00 slide in truck cab over CAMPER, gutted it and completely rewired it with house wire and from a 20 AMP to a 50 or 30 AMP BOX and Plug in... installed an 11 amp microwave, 110 WATT 5 CF refer-freezer, Power Stabilizing Jack's, Electric heater and airconditioner. Propane stovetop and oven. And a 5 inch queen sized body mold gel mattress, Outside shower, New water tank from 20 gallon to 35 gallon. Keep the 5 gallon water heater size and added a small 110 generator that you can hardly hear run with the 3 ft. exhaust pipe added and oversized muffler... doesn't over heat nor choke down....

Wish I had a little houseboat. You may have mentioned it, but since you are doing boondock water camping, I would go with a 12v / propane frig and a propane small hot water on demand system for the shower and sink. If going on the cheap, get a Cabela's ice chest with some gallon jugs of water frozen and a 1.5 gallon pump sprayer for the shower. The kind you use to spray weeds. but the black bladder shower probably works just fine. I've just never used one. When we beach camp we use a pump sprayer to get the sand and salt off of us.

Good video and a nice looking boat, you should have a lot of great times with it. One suggestion, propane is heavier than air and can sink into the bottom area of the boat. A propane detector mounted in the lower part of the cabin can provide a warning if there is a propane leak.
@ProverbsProductions4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Darwin, I'm actually cooking with butane in this video (not much better, but a little). I actually posted a new video today with a section that addresses the dangers of propane on a boat with a bilge. Funny thing is I have an old picture of the boat just after it was finished and all the original appliances were propane. There is still an old propane line in place. We do of course have multiple detectors and I think you've just given me an idea for a future video. Thanks for watching.

You may want to add some solar panels on top of your houseboat to keep the batteries charged or consider a small portable generator (2000 watt Honda knock-off). Also, if the water pump on the engine was run dry long enough to overheat the engine, the neoprene impeller may have been damaged and should be replaced. They need replacing every few years anyway and it is good to have a spare on board as well. Very nice houseboat.
@ProverbsProductions4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the heads up PDGearhead. The batteries are hooked to solar panels, I've included some information on them in another video and will do more videos on the solar features of the boat. I will definitely check into the issue of the impeller, thanks for the heads up. Thank you for watching!
@JWH-014 жыл бұрын
@@ProverbsProductions I'll second the suggestion regarding the impeller. I changed the impeller on my boat every spring....just in case. It is cheap insurance to avoid ruining the engine due to overheating. Your boat is the perfect size for a small family. It is small enough to manage easily and big enough to have fun. Enjoy!
