Hi, I'm in the US and I live with my daughter and son-in-law. I have just about all of my sewing stuff in my bedroom, my cutting table is folded up and in the living room, so when I cut anything out I just bring the sides up and close it back up after. It's amazing what we can do with the limited space we have. Love your videos❤

Hello Dianne, Like you, I have a small room for sewing but if you can get organised it's great. What amazed me was your sewing machine under the counter for your buttonholes! I have one of the first Singer computerised machines I bought in the 70's and none of my modern machines can turn out buttonholes as good as my ols Singer. Thank you for the tour and helpful tips.

Hi Suzanne, thank you. Yes people always think the latest thing is best but sometimes if you just have something that does a thing well why not stick with it. 😃

Thanks for the tour. I'm in a box room too. Space is a bit of an issue but you have laid yours out very nicely. It looks good x

Thank you Anne, I am at the point where I need to declutter again though. Sewing for a living creates leftover pieces of fabric that I don't want to throw away but also don't have space for! Have a good weekend.

I've come to the conclusion that sewing is a messy business!😂. Your sewing room looks terrific. I'm also using the smallest bedroom in my house and every so often I just have to re-arrange everything and pack stuff away for a change! Thanks for sharing.

Hi, yes it is. No sooner have I tidied up than it is messy again. Also some things i just like to have to the right of me on the sewing table and if I tidy them away I struggle to find them again!☺

Hi Dianne, I think to have any space at all is a blessing, I have a 36inch wide space plus all the wall which I put up 3 shelves which hold my sewing, knitting and crocheting books, some fabric, small iron projects in bags waiting to be sewn up, my over locker and sewing machine which sit on top of the chest of draw that has 3 draws, which holds all notions and cotton reels/ cones m y chair holds up when not in use and sits beside the chest of draws. I intend having a bench top slightly higher than the chest of draws the full 36 inch wide and having side runners to hold another bench to fit under neath the lop bench enabling me to keep my cutting mat on and pull out when needed . Your husband's handy maybe you could consider something similar under your bench top.any way enjoyed your video.have a good weekend. Susan🌼🌸🌻🌺

Hi Susan that does sound a good use of space. Yes he is very handy, I do find I cope very well cutting on the floor as I have no issues of fabric dropping off the table when it is a really big piece, I suppose I am also maintaining my flexibility by all the reaching and stretching and getting up and down so maybe I will just stick with what I do now. I think sometimes we see these things and think we need them, I am very grateful for the space I have. Have a lovely weekend. ☺

I have a Scovil Driz Superboard, which I use on my dining room table, as I don't have space for a separate cutting table. It is very old. I've probably had it for more than 40 years, so its looking a bit tired. It folds up, so takes up virtually no space but is 2m long by about 1 meter wide, so it is slightly wider and slightly longer than my dining room table, so I'm able to get most fabric laid out on it. It is both metric and imperial, has markings for cross grain, curved hems, small and short scallops as well as square markings on it. It is quite thick but, does fold up. You couldn't use a rotary cutter on it but fine with scissors. I believe it or something similar is still available. You could, of course, use it on the floor and I have been known to cut out on my lounge floor, especially curtains. I did create myself a sewing space, which is one of my spare rooms. It is looking particularly untidy at the moment and needs a good sort out, but I've been just so busy. Its great to have some dedicated space as I was working in the dining room prior to that, which equally always looked a mess!!

Hi Sharon, thank you that sounds amazing I am going to look out for something like that. I do use scissors myself. I have never tried the rotary cutters and I know lots of people swear by them. So I would be fine with something like that.☺

Lovely to see your sewing room update Dianne. Ikea are great for storage ideas aren't they? I've seen that gate-legged table and it's even got drawers in it! Would be great for anyone who has a bit of space for it, even if it was in a different room. Thanks for another interesting vlog ☺

Hi Michelle, glad you enjoyed it. I know if I was short of space in a dining room or kitchen I would buy this too, it is so good!☺

I think your space is lovely. Very bright and cheery. I have a dedicated sewing room now but I started off sewing at one end of a walk-in closet. I do have one suggestion, especially since you said in another comment that your husband is handy - you could add more shelves inside the wardrobe. It already has peg holes up the sides and you/hubby can use the shelf at the bottom for a template and just buy pegs to hold up the additional shelves. Then you could have bins and boxes to neaten up the piles.

Hi Debbie, Yes that is a good idea, I would like to keep a little hanging space but maybe just down one side would do it. Thank you ☺

I suppose it's just use what's available. Who wants a big dedicated area/sewing space with all the extras 😂
@Dianne-ut5vr Жыл бұрын
Hi Karen, I know who wants all that anyway. Ha ha all of us some days, but then more to fill up and keep tidy I suppose.
