If you keep fishing them spillways you should try using a lure call a beetle spin. I've caught everything from a green sunfish to a catfish on it.

When climbing, place rod in mouth freeing up your hands for safe traversing. I used to put some large rods in my face and swim out to the rocks for some fun times. ( I was a lot younger then). Tight lines youngen.

the vertical stripes show up usually in times of stress or when fish are showing aggression towards each other. When you have greens in a tank and you see the bars it usually means they aren't happy.

Before we had a flood come through in 2013 you used to be able to catch bluegill and sunfish around the size of the big one you caught. Although after the flood the pond was damaged a lot and is just now getting back to where it was. I saw a sunfish there once that looked to be a foot long (I was a kid so I thought it was like 3 at that time)

Green sunfish are actually some of my favorite fish to use for live bait. Mostly since they've got really thick bodies like a rock bass. They just live for a very long time. Also, they're much less hit n miss when you hook them through the nose. Not as many flying off the hook when you cast them out.

Bruh, come up to onalaska wisconsin at the spillway there is bluegill that is that pb size every cast and even bigger, the biggest one I've caught there has been 13 inches

Always clean up trash while you're fishing,even if it's not your own. You should always leave the fishing spot cleaner than when you first got there. You should know better than to leave those broken rods laying there.

Bluegill or Sunfish come in many verity's. They are one of the types that can interbreed with each other. They have named each of the variants. This includes but is not limited to Pumpkinseed, Bluegill, Sunfish, Green Sunfish, Longear Sunfish, Redear Sunfish, Red breast Sunfish, Rock Bass, Crapie and Warmouth. This makes ID tricky and they are one of the hardest to id. FYI. Also be careful using bait from bodies of water not connected to the one you're fishing as many states will fine you. It's not aloud and caries a hefty fine. Especial Asian Carp. You better be careful. Just looking out for you my friend of fish.

joshua van scoyk I just search for decent sized lakes and zoom in on their spillways. Google earth also has a feature where you can look at old images to see if water is there at different times of the year
