We don't celebrate Halloween. When my children were young, they had huge imaginations. We didn't go out trick or treating, but I would buy them outfits they could dress up in at home when they were playing. Dressing up was something they loved to do all the time all year long. To them, it was a fun time to get a new dress-up outfit. The day after Halloween, they got to go to the store and pick out their own bag of candy. I don't think they ever made it through a whole bag. I would find partial bags in the cabinet every year that I had to throw away. 😂
