How would you compare this to Quadropolis? Another 4 X 4 grid with placement rules and scoring...
@rahdo5 жыл бұрын
love quad, but i rate this much higher (in part because of the extra attention to variable setup)
@Atlas-FM85 жыл бұрын
The fact Tiny Towns takes way less time to set up is enough to recommend it over quadropolis.

That was interesting because I just realised I played the solo rules wrong. I played that you put 3 out, choose 1 to build and put it to the bottom of the deck and discard the other 2 to get a new display of 3. When you are out of cards, you reshuffle. it means the last 6 cards you draw are actually recycled cards so you have to be careful not to lock yourself out of resources. It does increase the shuffling time, though. Interested to try the proper rules but they do sound less interesting than my error.

Would it be possible to 'solo' playing with the 'Mayor' rules - as in essence they are a sort of multi-player solitare type of rules.
@rahdo4 жыл бұрын
yes, there are solo rules that come with the game that make use of the mayor :)

Rahdo, I believe your score should bring you way above low-level carpenter, since if I remember correctly you didn't add the points you got from the cloisters since Ryan had built them too. that's an extra 16 points!!

This game is a lot of fun. I’ve played to solo & with 6 and thought it worked well.

They could have easily added a reshuffle symbol to two or three cards and the card counting would be almost meaningless.
@rahdo5 жыл бұрын
the card counting really isn't an issue because you have to discard 5 cards every time you go through the mayor deck :)

Rahdo please make a list of your favourite games you like to play,or you play the most the last year, with 2p (not necessarily 2player only) !
@rahdo5 жыл бұрын
well once i've filmed a game, i don't go back and play it anymore, because i have to move on to the next game. and all games i play work well with 2, and very few of them are 2p only. so really, any of my top10s would fit the bill for what you're looking for :) kzbin.info/aero/PLmQverenaaqIR4TovRQCIvedgdWbjzfa7

There is a 5 card burn each turn, with town hall rules. Counting the cards is harder because of it.
@Therisktaker35 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was going to mention that as well. I watch jongetsgames play through and he used this exact variant in his play through and I don't think I would play it any other way.

@rahdo5 жыл бұрын
they should really make clear that the town hall variant is almost required when played with more than 3!
@treyalsup5 жыл бұрын
@@rahdo We were presented with that option after a couple of plays. Some players objected saying that their strategy had been based upon choosing colors that their opponents couldn't process. The standard game is more aggressive and interactive, but the frustration component is much higher than what you experienced in 2p where you can choose a color that helps you every other turn.
@rahdo5 жыл бұрын
spot on, plus i donj't know that i want to play with your friends, if their argument is "but i want to play with the variant that allows me to hurt you the most!" :)

@@rahdo Interesting! (but not fair) Most decision making in the games we all play involve some calculation of (what benefits me + what hurts others= value). I would think you would encounter this more often than not since you play so many 2 player games? 2-player tends to push people toward zero-sum strategies. 2 player Agricola, for example, is brutal and often becomes a game of resource denial. Translate my group's comment more along the lines of "the variant is deeper with more strategic considerations." We actually tend to really dislike "take that" mechanics.
