My career job was as a watchmaker. When Z scale came out I was dying to get it. Glad I didn’t. I came down with tremors at age 58. Now my N scale is a challenge. 😂

The Z-scale rolling stock with graffiti was pretty amazing. I'm just getting started in N scale...so Z is probably something I won't be doing anytime soon...but it IS amazing how small they can go.

Dear Steve, I’m a TT-scale since 1982. That’s a good compromise between HO-scale and N-scale. Today I have a G-scale in my garden. I’m fascinated by US Z-scale. The Problem, in Germany have Märklin a Monopol by Z- scale, which a lot of Money. It’s better, I have Holliday in the US/ Canada and I have a shopping in your homeland. When’s the price over 400€, then I must have a Customs Value Declaration. (19%+ taxes) 🤮🤷♂️ Greats from Germany and sorry for my bad English 😅😅😅

Steve, would be interesting to compare with AZL's Mikado steam locos. A different approach (and a larger loco)...but another very popular steam model.
@benmauro10222 ай бұрын
Same problem with an n scale h-4 I have. The worst part is not that the rods can fall off, but that getting them back on is very challenging, I have yet to do so with mine because the cap for the metal rod pin fell off and I just can't figure a way to replace it. Lovely model otherwise though.

I would like to get one in Santa Fe, but they are pricey so I'll be patient for now. I saw someone on Trainboard post that it can handle curves below 195mm radius, but not too far below. I'm glad Rokuhan put this out, and I'm hoping they'll release more American steam locomotives in Z. We do need more steam options in the scale.

I have always been fascinated by Z scale - unfortunately I have a lot invested in N scale, both UK and European, so I have never been able to collect much Z scale. 😢

Rokuhan trains and track are very nicely made and they have a huge range, although most steam locos are Japanese 2-6-4 or 4-6-2 configuration.

I love Roku steamers but I only have one. Sadly, they are super delicate and much more prone to derail that the super reliable diesel counterparts. I have also experienced the loose pins issue, and they are a nightmare to reassemble, so I stick to diesels 😢

After watching a few of your videos on the Z scale i decided to give them ago, i never modeled train before, I pretty much cleared out everything my two local hobby shops inventory in Z scale, the brand name they had is Micro-Train line, Do you know if all Z scale is compatible with one and other? i mean tracks, the store had many 30 and 45 degree tracks but not much in terms of strait ones, Which do you recommend i get to fit the Micro-train line brand name i bought? switchers and what not that are compatible.
@StevesTrains14 күн бұрын
So, you generally want to pick a brand of track for a given layout and stick with it as it can be a bit more fiddly trying to get different brands of track to work together since they are all a bit different, even though the gauge of the track is the same. That is mainly an issue with track that has an included road bed since the heights might be different, etc. As far as locomotives and rolling stock, the main issue is that you can run across some combinations of couplers used on the rolling stock that don't couple as well as others when going between brands. Micro trains makes replacements in Z and N for converting couplers, but that is the only real issue other than track. I haven't really had much issue thus far in that regard, but it can be more of an issue if you pick up older equipment and such. You may need to pick up replacement couplers (or whole replacement trucks with couplers on them) for the rolling stock to get things to couple well with other rolling stock.

the digitalisation should help with speed control , but that is a challenge; must go to z modell tiny decoders
@Poliss952 ай бұрын
Imagine the skill and patience the factory workers who assemble them every day must have. Is there room for a decoder in the tender?? Those 0-6-0s always looked really odd to me. As if people who made them had misread the pans and missed off a trailing truck under the tender. 😁
