I know this was 6 months late, but the reason why the randomizer gave you the puppet at 7:18 is because the game doesn't really open up regular encounters until you either beat the challenger or just die iirc. I think this is intentional from Scott as the music stops and eventually the banner just stops appearing as well as immediately jumping into a fight if you run out of it, almost to make it feel like the challenger is hunting you down. As for why you got the puppet? I'm just assuming the randomizer accidentally messed it up a bit
